Rewatched Pacquiao/Horn. Let's Hear It For The Horn.

See, Jeff Horn beat Manny with some brilliant strategy that people likely didn't notice. Watch it again. It wasn't a robbery, and I didn't see an over-the-hill Manny. I saw a game Manny who just got outboxed - period point blank.
    1. Notice that Horn is always using lateral movement. When facing a southpaw, this is the 100% perfect way to nullify their best punch. Even when Manny did land, it didn't hurt Horn like it did Algieri or Mosley when they got suddenly dropped. Algieri was moving backwards, Mosley was squared up. Horn is always moving laterally, and it was excellent.
    2. Horn's head movement is truly underrated. He dodged so many of Manny's punches it was crazy.
    3. Horn's workrate was through the roof. Many of his rights upstairs were missing, but he wasn't missing with the body shots. I seriously question CompuBox's numbers on the body work.
    4. When Manny stopped pivoting, he got clipped almost every time. When he was pivoting, Horn's head was consistently snapping back.
    5. Horn did good feints with the jab and right leads. Even when he didn't connect, it caused Manny to react and drop his guard for just long enough to get tagged with a body shot.
    6. Horn's timing is off the chain. He was right there with a punch in response to Manny's. If he had just a little more speed and a lot more accuracy than he currently does he would have KO'd Manny Pacquiao.
    7. I have never seen Manny take that many uppercuts in a fight.
    8. Horn clearly watched the Singsurat fight for his strategy against Manny. He was doing almost the same things in this fight especially on the ropes.
    9. Manny was extremely flat-footed and his usual side-to-side head movement wasn't there. He fought a lot like Duran did against Pazienza.
    10. Yes, Horn almost got Hagler/Hearns'd in Round 9. Credit to this guy's chin doe.
    11. Yes, Manny punched himself out in Round 9 and got demoralized in Round 10.
    12. And yes, Horn bullied the hell out of Manny.

Manny couldn't do his usually quick combos because if you watch Manny, he has to land the first punch of the combo. If he gets tagged he resets and is left vulnerable. Horn's timing was just too clean for any of that - the moment Manny tried to throw the setup punch, Horn was there with a counter right.

I scored it 7-5 for Jeff "The Hornet" Horn.

Ultimately, the right man won this fight, and not because of Manny's age or Bob Arum. Horn showed up with shades of "Irish" Mickey Ward, and proved he's a contender.

(Side note: there was more clinches in Pacquiao/Horn than MayPac...so stop talking BS about Floyd "hugging".)

You made many good points and Horn fought an excellent fight, but In no way shape or form did he win. I had It 8-4 Pacquiao and If being generous, It could have been 7-5 Pacquiao.

          I normally would have agreed.

But as we were taught from "someone" who covered boxing back in the 70's...unless there's a knockdown...which there wasn't...the aggressor almost always wins the round. Who was the aggressor in this fight, seriously, who was the aggressor? Jeff Horn was the aggressor in all but 4 rounds!

If we went by that than Floyd Mayweather certainly wouldn't be undefeated right now.

Horn was the aggressor for a good portion of the fight but the majority of his aggressiveness revolved around headbutts, rabbit punches, pushing Pacquiao's head down, clinching ect IMO.

Headbutts: happens when orthodox faces southpaw and you know that. Only reason it didn't happen against Floyd is that he stayed at range and kept Manny at bay all night long.

Rabbit Punches: I didn't see anything that qualified as an intentional rabbit punch. I saw Manny lunging in trying to land rights and then dropping his head to avoid Horn's right, resulting in the right grazing the back of Manny's head. That's not a rabbit punch.

Pushing Manny's Head Down: Again, Manny kept lunging in then ducking Horn's punch. Didn't you hear Ricky Hatton?

Clinches: Horn wasn't clinching to stop Manny's direct offense like Floyd, he was clinching after a missed punch so Manny couldn't counter him. That's called strategy and it's brilliant.
