whats with the excuses. yeah it was a ****ed up stoppage but when ward started fouling kovalev should have fouled him back. hes not got the size for cruiserweight, no need to move up form light heavyweight. and if he trains himself why does he really need a new trainer.

I think Kovalevs a great visceral fighter (which is his strength but also a barrier to progress) but I'm not 100% that he'll click with Virg on a cerebral level.
Either way I don't think 200 is a good move. He's saying almost exactly the same as all other LHWs when they get a reality check, but 9 times out of ten they come back down with a bump. Those that do make it are usually the 6'2" / 6' 3" guys that can carry the extra Lbs but I believe Sergei will be undersized at Cruiser. Also I believe his self belief has taken a major, possibly critical hit here. He's very much an ego driven guy and it remains to be seen if he can come to terms with the fact that he's fallible and how that will effect him.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 06-27-2017, 12:47 PM.

Sounds like the old 190 cruiser limit woulda been perfect for kovalev...at 200 he might be a bit small. Better get on the peds.
