No Way JDJ Remains In Kovalev's Corner, Who Would Be A Good Fit As Trainer?

I can't see it, especially with the brutal honesty of JDJ's interviews after the fight. Everyone knows Sergey is a problem to motivate and difficult to train.

Who would be a good fit?

Personally I think he should go with a Russian Trainer, I don't think he will pick up many new tricks at this stage. I think he needs a trainer who understands the Soviet style, has an understanding with Kovalev culturally, and will be on his level. Is there any good Russian trainers currently?

What did JDJ say after the fight? I didn't catch it

Kovalev said he trains himself. American trainers don't know what they're doing according to Kovalev. JDJ was just the mitt guy.

Andrew Golota. Some one needs to teach him the basics.

Abel Sanchez probably will be the best choice.
But Kovalev already was at this camp...

What do you think about Freddie Roach, guys?

From my view, Kovalev is able to do his work without of trainer. hHe did it for a last years. So, nothing has to be change.

Does JDJ even legit train Kovalev now is my question?

I think that might be why they have such a toxic corner. JDJ & Don Turner have damn near been straight sh^t talking Kovalev before & after this 2nd L to Ward. These guys act unlike any corner for a P4P guy then I think I've ever seen.

I'm definitely of the belief a loyal team/corner in boxing can be hard to find, but when a guy has risen so much like Kovalev has its usually a happy & appreciative corner who feel & look like a actual team when you are in the type of fights Kovalev has been in & getting the attention he's been getting. That doesn't really seem to be the case in this team/corner.

Duva & Egis just need to cut the bs with Kovalev. Let this guy be who he wants to be & quit trying to sell him as some sorta Russian Sugar Ray who can punch. This dude is a a$$hole who should be left to his own devices with social media & saying anything under the sun he wants to say in pressers & interviews, is probably racist & needs a trainer that hasn't smiled in 26 years & only speaks Russian.

I think Kov should be his own trainer. He can come back to the corner and give instructions to himself and then nod at himself like it's good advice

If he won't listen to anyone, then it won't matter who his trainer is. The fact is, Kovalev is limited, and I don't think any other trainer is going to give him something to make a difference. A trainer can only take a fighter so far, you have to work with what you've got in front of you. Not every fighter can be trained to fight like Leonard, Duran, De La Hoya etc. So you train your fighter to adjust to each opponents style and find their weaknesses. If Kov won't listen, he won't benefit from anything that the top trainers in the business can teach him.
