Comments Thread For: Canelo: Golovkin One-Dimensional; I Thought He Lost to Jacobs

NEW YORK Canelo Alvarez absorbed a lot of useful information from watching Gennady Golovkin's last fight against Daniel Jacobs. The Mexican superstar noticed that the powerful puncher from Kazakhstan didn't adjust well when faced with a smart opponent capable of boxing and moving out of harm's way. Alvarez also thinks Jacobs was too wary of Golovkin's vaunted power early in their fight, which he feels cost the former WBA middleweight champion on the scorecards.

I don't think Canelo is serious. Just trying to down play Golovkin after ducking him for so long. Damage control 101.

I don't think Jacobs won the last fight but it was a very close fight. My opinion certainly changed as regards to Canelo-Golovkin fight. I think Canelo wins quite comfortably over 12 rounds. Golovkin doesn't cut the ring off that well as a Tyson or Hearns in their primes. He is a fantastic puncher but quite one dimensional indeed. Maybe will eat my words months

Floyd said it best about GGG "No special effects straight up and down". He is one dimensional and made Jacobs look like a slick fighter. Jacobs who was known purely as a brawler with a weak chin. If you think now that Jacobs is slick because he was out boxing GGG just wait to see how much faster and "slick" Canelo will look against the slow easy to hit GGG. Canelo's hand speed, accuracy, and defense will have GGG freezing and forced to reset all night long. He will look like a deer in headlights and will be outboxed.

After reading your coment I started to believe that Canelo has more chance to win. But GGG is not ******. He knows how to work against fast boxers.

Canelo doesn't fight on his back foot. Has never shown any true ability in terms of movement/ring generalship. He'll look very sharp early then get stopped late, probably in round 8 or 9. He doesn't have a better or longer jab than Danny and definitely can't move like Danny.

When under fire, fighters resort to their old habits. He'll try to trade with GGG at some point and that will be his undoing. He's just too small. Love his talent though, but he's the Hearns to GGG's Hagler imo. (Of course FMjr is the Leonard of the bunch. I'm talking in terms of stature in the sport, not ability)

expect canelo to do a 180 if he wins and come out and say ggg is the best fighter at the moment.

Very possible or It just might end up being a case where Canelo doesn't have enough power to deter GGG from coming after him. If that Is the case It will be a brutal night for Canelo. This fight Is a toss up.

Ive been owning these haters with my picks in 2017 just like the last seven years on the scene, but they wont listen -- I call these upsets.

Canelo is going to make it look easy, hes going to cut Golovkin by the constant head shots and doctors might have to stop the fight if he avoids getting KO by uppercuts or body-shots -- no way GGG starts to drop his hands to block shots this idiot is going to get mad and throw like a wild man.
