And coWARD finds a new way to coward his way out of a fight lmao. That sissy has no shame. Weeks was instructed, as soon as those low blows hurt him, stop the fight. Disgusting. Kovalev is still the champion, no debating that.

Originally posted by Boxing Logic View PostWard landed a low blow early in the round that hurt Kovalev. Kovalev motioned he was hurt, but Weekes refused to give him a rest. Ward saw Kovalev was hurt to the "body" (****), and as he said in the post fight interview, he knew Kovalev's hands were down to protect his body, which is the only reason he was able to throw that right to Kovalev's head that hurt Kovalev, and then he threw three low blows to Kovalev's **** again on the ropes, hurting Kovalev to the **** even more. Kovalev sagged into the rope thinking the ref would warn Ward, or at least give a count for the ropes holding him up so he could recover, but instead Weekes stopped it at the earliest opportunity. Why? He never even got knocked down. He wasn't eating clean shots to the head except for that one early in the round.
The commentary team was also fluffing Ward up the entire night. It felt like the only one not on the take this time was Lederman. We know where Max and Roy stand, and it felt like Lampley got reprimanded after the last fight after Ward and Virgil complained about him and said he should retire.
Was Kovalev gassing? Yes, low blows and hip shots all night will do that to you. But he was still winning rounds. The entire thing was a joke. I know Ward fans will celebrate like crazy because they never cared how Ward won, just that he "won," as we saw after the first fight. But come on man. Come on.
Boxing fans are passionate about who they follow and will turn a blind eye to unjust calls or no calls at all, as long as the fighter they follow gets the win, even if they cheated, and if the boxer they follow gets the L, will wine, cry and fight trying to discredit the other fighter, but this is how it goes with any other sport, and that is what sells.

What is it with African American referees and judges always helping African American boxers defeat non-African American boxers?
This was just ridiculous.
First, a clear low blow that sold-out Weeks let go, a couple of rounds before the final round. It was a clear low blow. It took the oxygen and strength out of Kovalev. He could never recover from that. So Weeks, instead of stopping the action and letting Kovalev recover, and maybe discounting a point from Ward, let the fight continue. THIS STARTED THE END.
Fast forward a couple of rounds. Ward catches Kovalev with a great right to the face, with all his body behind it. A legit shot. He stuns Kovalev but does not knock him down. Then, Ward goes after Kovalev, and throws IDK three, four or five straight blatant low blows, while Weeks deliberately covers the cameras and pretends not to see. After Kovalev gets evidently weakened by a flurry of low blows, Weeks suddenly stops the fight for no justifiable reason, instead of penalizing Ward or even disqualifying him for throwing a barrage of low blows . Weeks is a sold-out embarrassment.
This was totally ridiculous. And then, either naive or sold-out Kellerman says in public that he considers Ward the #1 P4P boxer today, after such blatant robbery, during his interview with Ward, where he pretended not to notice about all the low blows.
I have the highest respect for REAL African American boxing champions, like Ali, Foreman, Hagler, Leonard, Tyson (before the bitings), and many, many more real fighters, but this has gone beyond blatantly disgusting. The way referees helped Mayweather Jr. in the past and the way Weeks just ruined Kovalev's career today, is a total shame. Even with the very bad camera angles, it was pretty obvious that Ward "won" the fight, by deliberately connecting low blows, knowing that his accomplice Weeks would turn a blind eye on his cheating. Ward is a pathetic cheater, and he evidently is the one who chooses who will help him "win" his fights.
Sad day for boxing!

3 - Horribe way to stop a great and cerebral fight.
Nevertheless I can finally put Ward again on my top 5 P4P list. Dude is a warrior and a great technician.
