Those "karate guys" are the fathers of MMA. Those karate guys have dominated mma since the sport started. BJJ, Judo, Sambo, Muay Thai are all traditional martial arts that are successful in MMA and modern mma shares the same philosophy as Lee's JKD, take what works from a multitude of martial arts and discard what doesn't.
You don't think Lee could fight because theres no film and he didn't participate in sport fighting? Okay, that's fine. I'll take the word of dozens of world class fighters that were around when he was and saw him first hand or trained with him. The best part is pretty much all of them agree he could fight.

Any martial artist will tell you that full force throat strikes are only used when you are trying to survive an attack on the street because it is considered deadly force and not allowed in sparring.
But they know every strike and every point (that's what you said) the blows are legal. Don't have to be deadly blows. Why aren't they dominating MMA?

But neither are those 'masters' who only TALK about how deadly they are.
Originally posted by richardt View PostBut yes, when martial artists train live, that puts them at an advantage.
Now show me any of these 'I can kill you with one finger/strike' grandmasters actually training that stuff alive....

So they can't train it, but by God they know it works!
Do you have ANY instances of this working in a real fight?
Surely at least one of these killing machines has gotten into a street fight and killed his attacker with a throat strike.
So, got any examples?

Its best not to criticize Lee when everyone knows you tip toed around him when alive. Not that Norris criticises Lee, but if it rocks your boat too imply thatLast edited by hugh grant; 06-13-2017, 04:24 PM.
