As a fight fan, you should know that rounds are judged individually round per round. Ward went down in one round which means that there were 11 other rounds for the judges to score. Having one 10-8 round is not a guarantee of victory. It simply means you won 1 round out of 12.

Imagine! It was Kovalev fighting 5 opponents in their first fight. There was Ward, the mean lean grabbing machine. The blind referee who apparently was blinded by the ring lights every time Ward held and then the three judges who gave any round Ward didn't take a beating in to him. Hope the rematch is on the up and up. We'll see.

The knock down is just 1 point that's happened in round 2. There were 10 more rounds after that. Plenty of time to make up 1 point! Kovalev drained and started backing up. This he's no longer the aggressor. Close fight couldn't have gone either way but the scores were right

he started missing shots he was landing after round 2, his jab and step back left got nullified as well....his right hand got smothered and he got the grappling payed a part as well as the body shots

he was clearly affected by ward bringing the fight to him and going harder as the fight progressed

Someone needs to tell Ward that the public witnessed the fight. Grunting from getting hit in the body doesn't necessarily mean someone is hurt. Some fighters grunt in anticipation of a shot.

If Kov was truly hurt, he would have went down or at least taken a knee.

body shots hurt worse than head shots and have a residual affect
