Comments Thread For: Ward To Kovalev: You Can Lie To The Public - You Can't Lie To Me!

WBO, WBA and IBF light heavyweight world champion Andre "S.O.G." Ward (31-0, 15 KOs) is dis*****g the recent claims that were made by Sergey "Krusher" Kovalev (30-1-1, 26 KOs), who says the undefeated champion has no pop on his punches and hits like a girl. Their rematch takes place Saturday, June 17 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The championship event will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View(r) beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT.

Someone needs to tell Ward that the public witnessed the fight. Grunting from getting hit in the body doesn't necessarily mean someone is hurt. Some fighters grunt in anticipation of a shot.

If Kov was truly hurt, he would have went down or at least taken a knee.

Many fighters get hurt In the ring and don't take a knee. As far as the body shots, there Is no question that they had an affect as Kovalev slowed down drastically In the second half of the fight.

Him slowing down could have been a result of body shots, or as a result of just tiring out from the fight itself.

My point is, If Ward's body shots were THAT effective, they should have led to Kov eventually getting dropped or stopped.

I've seen the effect that good body punchers have on their opponents. They chop them down then stop them. Early Cotto was a body killer! JCC was a body killer. Duran was a body killer. Ward?.. Not so much. He's a body shot scorer.

So much ******ity here that I don't even know where to start. Chavez, Duran, and Cotto didn't stop all of their opponents. With your asinine logic, their body punching wasn't effective in their distance fights.

Ward has never been a devastating body puncher, nor was he one that night. Yet some of his fans are acting as if he broke 3 of Kovalev's ribs that night.

The question was whether or not Ward's body punching was effective and contributed to slowing down Kovalev. But as usual you want to use moronic logic and unrelated topics to deny what is obvious to most people.

I've never seen Kovalev do so much talking. He is gonna look REALLY bad if he loses this one.
