But my bloodlines are all mostly in Michigan. My Dad's side anyway. I still get back there every year or so. Or try to at least. I'm a die hard Pistons/Lions/Wings/Tigers/Wolverines fan. Was back this past October for the Michigan/Wisconsin game in Ann Arbor. Stayed in Greektown (at the Greektown Casino). I wouldn't mind returning to The D someday.

And that's bad ass about your homie fighting on that card. I'll have to keep tabs on that. What's his name?
NO he's not fighting on the card. He's training someone on the card.

Detroit is on the come up. They're moving the Pistons back to Detroit. The Red Wings just built a new stadium in the cass corridor area. The downtown area is really booming. It's kind of spreading out to other areas. I even seen a community garden in Brightmoor That shocked the hell out of me. Still a long way to go but seems like the right leadership is in place.

You can't play ****** now after years saying haymon was running the show and then blame golden boy. And since late 2014 when they split haymon had all that money, tv dates, networks and complete control and still decided not to put Spence in Dallas. Don't play dumb and blame this on golden boy when he was never signed to them half his career when he had a name and was the biggest prospect in boxing there were zero ties to golden boy at that point.
It was his 9th fight. He was on an undercard. What would've been the benefit of him headlining his 9th fight in Dallas? Explain to me the benefit of these fighters fighting in their hometowns when most fighters aren't doing it. Does Canelo fight in his hometown? Does Joshua fight in his hometown? Does Mayweather fight in his hometown? What's the benefit of fighting untelevised fights in your hometown? Stars aren't built by fighting in their hometowns. They're built by fighting on TV. People complain that champions don't travel. Then they complain that Ward only fights in his hometown. Then they complain that other fighters don't fight in their hometowns. I don't get this obsession with fighters fighting in their hometowns. Crawford just had his highest rating on HBO and he fought in NY not Omaha.

Disappointing that the article says Porter, Garcia and Peterson are unlikely. Collazo is an okay fight, but only a slightly higher level for Spence than before he won the belt.

In order for him to fight in Dallas and on TV he'd have to fight on a big card there. What big cards have been in Dallas? Pacquiao & Canelo are the two I can name off the top of my head. He's not signed with GB or TR so he wasn't going to fight on those cards. The main thing you want to do is get him television coverage in order to build him enough so he can fight in his hometown. Fighting in untelevised cards in Dallas in front of 500 just to say he's fought in his hometown doesn't make any sense. The fighters that consistently fight in their hometown are hometown stars not fighting or fighting for any major belts or fighters like Crawford and Easter Jr who are champions from medium sized towns. Mos UFC fighters don't fight in their hometowns either. Most boxers don't fight in their hometowns. Floyd isn't from Vegas and he had to leave Grand Rapids to become a bigger star. The Hagler days are over. Boxing isn't as big as it once was so you have to build fighters on TV not in their hometowns. And no they couldn't have picked another day for the Bundu fight. That card was picked because of the timeslot after the Olympic basketball game.

My point I'm going to end with is most fighters don't fight in their hometowns. That's true for boxing and MMA. It's better for a fighter to fight on TV than in their hometowns until they're big enough to do both at the same time.
BS no matter where he fought he had tv to air it because pbc network deals. If you can book a shyt venue like where he fought for bundu you can't tell me they couldn't find a better venue in the entire state of Texas that draws more then 500 attendance lime that junk venue they held bundu at. You are failing with these excuses. Haymon not being a promoter and out sourcing promoters seems like with pbc he just randomly threw fight dates to promoters and didn't care about what region/venue that fighter ended up in. And that's how you get Spence building no local fanbase because he fighting in NY, canada, Florida ect. A full time promoter would of built him in Texas and especially dallas. Once he's big time sure fight in Vegas but when your own home time don't know who you are and you can't even draw 300k on showtime no one to blame but his handlers. Dallas don't know or care about him and that's because they never took him there.

Yeah man every time I go back I can see it continue to trend up; at least the downtown area anyway...it gets more vibrant and more vibrant

I know some folks aren't too ecstatic about gentrification but downtown Detroit not too long ago was a f**king ghost town, now it's showing signs of actually thriving and bustling with activity

Even guys like Justin Verlander and Matthew Stafford have commented on it, like how they first got there and how dead the downtown area was, but how now they actually view downtown as a cool destination to go to

He drew more on Showtime than Anthony Joshua's first headline in the same timeslot. The 300k ain't a bad number for an evening show which consistenly draws lower than primetime shows. You already know this but I get your agenda.

If they are smart they'll get Dez Bryant (who livetweeted Spence's Brook fight) and some other Cowboys to help Spence out with marketing.

What a year it will be for Dallas if we can land both the Spence fight and the GGG/Canelo fight at the Cowboys Stadium.. I wonder if Spence would want to make his optional defence on the undercard of Canelo/GGG.. Pretty sure that would assist in getting the location to Dallas and giving Spence some additional exposure to casuals and Mexican fans that have not seen much of him..

Stop Joshua who is a foreign fighter in his first US aired fight? Spence is American and has fought almost his entire career in US televised fights. You think both should be treated equally? One was built up locally to star in his own country and drew massive ratings in that country and is now trying open up another market another country. One isn't even a star in his own city, let alone state that's why the ratings ****** in his own country. If he was built locally in one of the biggest cities in the country if just 1/10 of sports fans in Dallas area had a reason to know or care about him that would of made a big impact on his ratings 2 weeks ago which flat out ******.

How would fighting in Dallas mean higher ratings? Crawford highest ratings came outside of Omaha. And I'll ask you again. Name the fighters that are fighting in their hometowns.
