If canela fights like his shoes are tied than Jr. fights like his feet are stuck to the floor. To even suggest this is dumb.

I disagree. Granted its not like either guy has great movment, but Canelo clearly struggles more & has more problems with movement.

He needs to use the physical advantages he has. A good to great chin and he should be able to hurt canela based on size difference.

I think people are severely overrating JCC's "physical advantages". He's got some inches in height. He's got a ~2in reach advantage (which I'd argue are better used controlling distance then going head to head with Canelo), but he's not a strong guy. He's got a lower KO % than Canelo, fighting lesser opposition then Canelo. Probably his best two KO's are over Andy Lee & Peter Manfredo. He's literally KO'd 8 guys in the last decade lol.

I really think that is the only change he gets.

I don't think he gots a chance either way reallllllly. The talent difference here is pretty wide. The names are close & that's why this fight is even happening. I do think everyone gots a chance to win, but if I was putting a % of it for sure JCC Jr's chances are under probably under or around 3-5%/max & the main factors towards him winning will be about Canelo f#cking up or this weight jump impacting his performance more than anything JCC Jr can do.

As for the either losing option we are discussing JCC Jr gots the level of focus of prime Pauly Shore so Nacho's plan might work for a few rounds like it did vs Khan, but he'll probably burn out or make a dumb mistake to get stopped around the 6th or 7th round. And while just going head to head with Canelo will be funner as a fan Canelo is far too elusive, good at countering & hard hitting for Chavez not to get blasted in 3 to 5 rounds probably.

I don't think anyone who's chosen to stand with Canelo for very long hasn't been KO'd in awhile. I think maybe the only guy who its wise for them to stand in front of Canelo is GGG.

No way I see Jr. winning this. Outside of canela just being better all around the weight is going to really hurt whatever little chance Jr. had which is why I think this fight is lame to begin with.

I think I saw him on "The Walking Dead"! This is definitely not a good weight for him. I'm afraid he'll be weak as a puppy on fight night. I wanted him to tear Canelo up too, but I don't think he'll have the strength.

For as much praise as Nacho gets for being a great trainer. Besides Marquez and his brother, I can't think of any other fighters he's had that became elite under his guidance.

I totally forgot that Nacho trained Oscar for the Pacquiao fight. Amazing that he had Oscar weight drained for weeks prior to the weigh in. Seems like it's too soon as well for Chavez Jr.

I thought Memo was in charge of the weight loss. I'm sure he is, but I'm wondering if Nacho insisted on certain things for the camp and target weights.

In any event, it seems like Nacho would've learned with the De La Hoya fight not to be too light too soon.

Lol lots of casuals on this forum who barely started watching boxing recently I guess. Beristain has trained numerous world champions and even developed some HOFers like Gilberto Roman and Daniel Zaragoza hence the gym name Roman-Za a combination of his two finest fighters before developing the Marquez brothers. He also trained Ricardo Finito Lopez after his initial trainer died and even rejuvenated Jhonny Gonzalez allowing him to capture a few titles at Featherweight including a 1st round KO over another of his former fighters Abner Mares.

De La Hoya, Chavez Jr, Angulo and a few others were only with Nacho for a fight or two and you cant always blame the trainer for not helping them sometimes the fighters need to know their limitations. Oscar should have never fougth Pacquiao at least not at that weight, and Julio doesn't look good but what do you expect when he hasn't come in this low since 2012. I wouldn't be surprised if this plays out exactly like Ward vs Dawson.
