Those ratings are bad but Espinoza said Showtime is committed no matter what.

It is strange how far boxing ratings as a whole has fallen off from even 5 years ago.

Are they committed to boxing or just committed to Haymon?

They have a great opportunity right now given what HBO's doing...there's far better ways to spend $1.2 million than on Andre Freaking Brto.

How he still has a job is beyond me. But the truth is at some point you reach a tipping point where the ratings don't justify the cost. Not only are ratings down a lot they are ACTUALLY paying these guys more money. Wilder for example was paid less for his fight that drew 1.2m viewers then he was for his fight that did half that. They just paid a bum 1.2m. Berto vs porter total cost 2.2m for 460k viewers when they used to pay half that for close to 1m viewers. Like I said this would he a fire able offense for any other business.

Hard to say. I am just happy that the current slump in ratings will not deter them to the point of giving up. They should however demand better product for the price. Get Berto's overpriced a$$ off the airwaves.

As has already been explained, Showtime's boxing ratings are artificially low and HBO's boxing ratings are artificially high.

This is because HBO does everything possible to maximize their first run live viewing number while Showtime does everything possible to make things as convenient as they can for their subscribers.

SHOWTIME ANYTIME allows you to stream boxing live even though these viewers will not be reflected in the published number. HBO GO does not allow you to stream boxing live because it will not be reflected in the published number.

Showtime replays boxing in the middle of the night even though these viewers will not be reflected in the published number. HBO will not replay until the morning because they don't want a late night showing to take away from the live number.

SHOWTIME ANYTIME offers the entire telecast the next day. HBO GO refuses to offer the entire telecast and fights aren't available for several days. All done to make it as unappealing as possible to watch anything other than the live showing. While Showtime gives their viewers tons of options instead of obsessing over the live number, a number which is completely irrelevant other than for PR purposes.

Well Haymon used Floyd as a negotiating ploy back then. Maybe he's using Floyd-McGregor for now? One thing you can't take away from Al is his shrewdness. Hedge funds don't give away $1B like candy on Halloween.

You are not privy to the real numbers and as has been explained many times, the published Showtime number is completely inaccurate.

Thankfully, since Espinoza knows his job his safe, he doesn't have to worry about artificially propping up the live number at the expense of doing what is best for the subscribers.

Your a phuking idiot so streaming only effects showtime? If you want to stream HBO Live there are numerous platforms to do so for cord cutters. People who stream HBO through slingtv, directvNow, ps vue, ect don't effect hbo ratings or any other cable channel? Phuk you ****** and showtime pulling double the ratings just 2 years ago and in a matter of months that happened to line up exactly with haymon launching PBC is when the ratings dropped by at least half. Half showtime viewers didn't just say hey let's all stream the fight instead. Sell your fairy tales elsewhere. There is way more going on then streaming on showtime anywhere app. LMAO
