No one can deny skin colour has a part in selecting your favourite fighter as they resemble and thus identify with yourself, but other factors such as their fighting style, their public persona, who they know and what they do inside and outside the ring contribute to their popularity or lack of thereof as well.

Like Floyd, I found him arrogant and extremely egotistic following his career. Even now hes hogging the limelight from his own fighters; that alone should tell you a lot about the man.
But at the end of the day thats what makes boxing entertaining, its a shame Floyd is gone.

look. i am a black motha****a. i love lomachenko. golovkin is trash. kovalov is decent. i could give 3 ****s about the skin of a boxer. as long as he's coming strong with the pain. u guys strictly go by race even though you aren't from that country. which makes it hilarious.......it's embarrassing.

Long story short, of course my wife and I rooted for Floyd and Chris Algeri against Manny Pac. Not even a judgement call. I also happen to be a big tennis fan. I root for all the Americans, especially Venus & Serena Williams.

But let me be 200% clear. Im glad Floyd kicked Manny's ass. THE MONEY TEAM!!!!! USA!!

It plays ZERO part in selecting my favorite Fighter. My ancestors happen to be from India, though I myself am an American citizen. If a black or white (or any other color) American Fought against a Fighter who was an Indian citizen, I would root for the American to KO the Indian.

I can understand if you're from some small closely knit country the idea of patriotic loyalty in boxing.

The US is a melting pot experiment that completely changes cultures and political leanings every couple generations. Travelling through Europe and South Asia I noticed how neighboring countries had more in common with each different sides of town do in the US.

Your neighbors have jack **** in common with you and there's a decent chance they hate you.

If a normal white American fan pretended they have more in common with adrien broner than they do with a random bulgarian or ukranian then they'd be lying and you'd be laughing. They'd have more in common with a UFO.

I am a white American and what country a boxer is from means nothing to me one way or the other. I don't like boxers any more or any less because they are a countryman of mine. I am a boxing fan and not a flag waver. I like boxers because of their fighting skills, their style, and their conduct in and out of the ring. That boxer could be Spence, an American, or GGG, a Russian. You sound like a black American who is pissed off because you think black American boxers should get more love from white American boxing fans and Russian boxers should get no love at all from any American boxing fans. This sounds like more of your boo hooing and complaining that Ward doesn't get the respect he is due.Did it ever occur to you that Ward's ugly, fan unfriendly style and not his race or nationality is why he is not more popular? Boxing is a sport and not politics. I root for the fighters I like and their race and nationality have nothing to do with that.

Nonsense. This kind of thing causes division. I dont care what color someone is. I as an American have more in common with Adrian Broner than some Ukranian or whatever. I ALWAYS root for Americans. Just like in the Olympics. **** I care about Bulgaria, Ukraine, etc.? Those arent my countries.
Your type of post is what divides us. I like my neighbors no matter what their skin color. We are all patriotic Americans and thats all that matters. When I go to Memorial Day Parades, I see black people, white people, Hispanic people, etc., all waving the same American flag. thats how it should be.

... at least I live in a "Eastern-European" country, and I "had" to watch this school of boxing since childhood...
