Haymon has the American world champions locked up and HBO's budget is evaporating. So HBO focuses on eastern Europeans because that's what HBO can afford. Ring goes along with it because Ring is owned by an HBO promoter.

But let's not forget that MILLIONS watch when these American world champions fight on CBS, FOX, NBC, etc.

HBO may still control the boxing media, but they're losing their grip on boxing fans. Way more US boxing fans are watching these American world champions fight on the major networks than are watching anybody on HBO. It's not even close. HBO boxing is not the market leader anymore.

This is a good point. Ever since PBC, I have been exposed, by default, to various American Fighters (of all colors and stripes), and have begun following their careers (Caleb Plant, Jervonta Davis). This is certainly a positive thing.

Not really true about Ali.. He had A LOT of Whites who didn't care for him because he ducked Vietnam,while other Americans made the sacrifice.

Most Whites were behind Frazier.

Later in life, Ali became a revered figure - long after his retirement. But during his career, I think you're a bit off on the average White-American viewing him like a "comic book hero."

Plenty of Whites did like him - because he resented the counterculture at such a turbulent time in America.

Ray Leonard, however, you're correct - White and Black Americans alike loved him.. Same with Roy Jones Jr. He's probably the last great American boxer to really capture the imagination of all Americans alike, race notwithstanding.

How do you know where my ancestors came from? My mother's side is Greek and Ukrainian; my father's side is English.

You may be embarrassed of your heritage and ancestry, but most people take pride in theirs.

Truth. Mr. Ali Fought before my Time, but who wouldnt root for him? I may not have agreed with him on everything, but he was an amazing talent, amazing Boxer. Of course I would have rooted for him had I been of age when he was active!

Now these 2 people happen to be of a different skin color, but I couldn't care less. They seem like nice gentleman and they're American. CP from Tennessee, GD from Maryland, each with their nice personal back story. What does Deyontay Wilder Say after Each Fight? He thanks Alabama, and goes on about how he likes Alabama. DW is a gentleman. A straight up good guy. Who WOULDN'T root for someone like that? I want him to unify the belts. I want him to be undisputed champ because I look up to people like that.

My parents might be from India, and her parents might be from Manila, but we are Americans and we're damn proud of it. I didnt build **** as a slave. Excuse me for being proud of my country. I will ALWAYS root for American Fighters (or American athletes in Olympics, or in any sport in general). ALWAYS. Germans root for German Fighters, Japanese root for Japanese FIghters, Mexicans root for Mexican Fighters, etc., etc., etc., so as an American, Naturally, I would root for an American.
