Why do white Americans support eastern euro fighters more than their countrymen

But let's not forget that MILLIONS watch when these American world champions fight on CBS, FOX, NBC, etc.
HBO may still control the boxing media, but they're losing their grip on boxing fans. Way more US boxing fans are watching these American world champions fight on the major networks than are watching anybody on HBO. It's not even close. HBO boxing is not the market leader anymore.

Do you deny this? Afrocentrist BS is the most cringeworthy, YET HILARIOUS shyte ever!
In boxing, people support who looks like them = period.
And yes - many Americans have Russian and Ukrainian heritage. Some to the point where they still have family they regularly visit there.
and 95% of white americans have 0 family in eastern europe. u.k. and canada for that matter. do u need me to pull up statistics? do i really need to go there. u have absolutely 0 connection to eastern europe but yet u are the biggest fans? it's hilarious and embarrassing all at the same time.

And I don't think many white americans rooted for any of Joe Loius's white opponents.
There's always going to be moron fans, some of whom only root for people of their own race. But that isn't everyone by a long stretch.

Most Whites were behind Frazier.
Later in life, Ali became a revered figure - long after his retirement. But during his career, I think you're a bit off on the average White-American viewing him like a "comic book hero."
Plenty of Whites did like him - because he resented the counterculture at such a turbulent time in America.
Ray Leonard, however, you're correct - White and Black Americans alike loved him.. Same with Roy Jones Jr. He's probably the last great American boxer to really capture the imagination of all Americans alike, race notwithstanding.

You may be embarrassed of your heritage and ancestry, but most people take pride in theirs.

Thanks for the great post. I see guys like Gervonta Davis, and Caleb Plant coming up. I can't help but root for their feel-good, American stories. Now these 2 people happen to be of a different skin color, but I couldn't care less. They seem like nice gentleman and they're American. CP from Tennessee, GD from Maryland, each with their nice personal back story. What does Deyontay Wilder Say after Each Fight? He thanks Alabama, and goes on about how he likes Alabama. DW is a gentleman. A straight up good guy. Who WOULDN'T root for someone like that? I want him to unify the belts. I want him to be undisputed champ because I look up to people like that.

Fans can't just appreciate the talent of these fighters? It always got something to do with the race? A lot of you guys are bunch of ******s here, these americans thinks everything revolves around races, well, considering your history I'm not even surprised. I could care less if white and black americans start some war between each other today, but I do have some respect for british fans, they always support their fighters and race or religion is not even a factor for them, Nas was ******, but at the same time they're not trying to discredit fighters from other parts of the world. And a lot of you mother****ers think that supporting your kind = trying to discredit others but it's not how it works

I will ALWAYS root for American Fighters (or American athletes in Olympics, or in any sport in general). ALWAYS. Germans root for German Fighters, Japanese root for Japanese FIghters, Mexicans root for Mexican Fighters, etc., etc., etc., so as an American, Naturally, I would root for an American. Not even a remote question about that.
