I don't remember seeing irish flags at his fights? im sure i saw union jacks..
My post above has touched on this,
He boxed as an amateur for Ireland, I think, now I'm not 100% but from my point of view,he wants to fight for northern Ireland, which lets be honest isn't going to happen.....
He's not from a ********** side of belfast, which I really don't care for all that....
But he can't really be saying Ireland this Ireland that,Irish fans are the best, and then not carry a tri colour and stand for god save the queen........
He is trying to tap into the Irish fan side, believe it or not, Frampton is not very big in the republic, has a name for sure, but I bet most people here didn't even know he won 2 titles in different weight divisions...

This will all be so much easier to explain once conlan and paddy Barnes make their debuts...
    Haha

          A cool man thanks....
Haven't been doing much for the last couple of months over work, so just starting to ease back in now, training a few kids, sparring a couple of people,
Once I get my fitness back I'll see whether I'll keep fighting or not.

I always end up back fighting no matter how much I say "just doing it for fitness" haha not the sport you can just walk away from ha
          Cheers anyway

I think you are very very wrong and will take any bet if that fight happens...

Oscar has a very pretty style but he is one speed and throws everything into his punches and doesn't hurt fighters the way Carl does as he wings he punches instead of turning them over. Carl has taken full blooded shots from Martinez who hits far harder, is the better boxer with

              Frampton KO.....

Jimmy McLarnin has wins over like five or six IB Hall of Famers, including Benny Leonard and Barney Ross. There's absolutely no way Frampton will ever come close to that

All of the boxers mentioned above faught under the Irish flag,
Now you have the likes of Tyson fury who were born in England but fought for Ireland as amateurs, and boxed for England when they turned pro....

Then their is the north, which in a way is complicated especially to outsiders.. a lot of boxers from the north choose to fight for the UK only because of the money and the British title and that kind of stuff.....
Don't think that Barry mcguigan is a hugely popular man in boxing circles in Ireland, he claimed to be Irish before he gave up his Irish passport for a British one to fight for the British title. A lot of Irish people (at that time) had some very ill feelings over that, and was actually pointed out by Tyson fury......

Now I understand what Frampton is trying to do, and I've supported Frampton since his amateur days, but he his only kind of pulling the Irish thing to get fans on his side, now I like Frampton, but any boxer claiming to be fighting for Ireland, while standing for god save the queen is a spit in the face for some people....
Example, james mcclean (Irish footballer from the north) choose to play for the republic....turns his back on god save the queen and refuses to wear a poppy..hated in England but has the best following from Irish football fans...
Frampton thinks he can play both sides but he can't claim to fight for Ireland or be the best boxer in Ireland while fighting under a British banner... Now I understand he's trying to bring communities together up north, but wait and see Conlan..watch the Irish fans 100% back him to the hilt, cause he fought for Ireland as an amateur and will carry the tri colour for Ireland..........the difference will become clear once conlan has a few fights under his belt

Sorry for the long comment hahaha
This isn't the 1940's. Grow up you cavemen.

Well done Sir. It's Jimmy McLarnin by a country mile. I'm surprised it took so long for someone to mention this in here. His resume is stacked. I think he holds the record for facing and defeating more hall of fame inductees than any other boxer ever. Overall he fought 14 hall of famers only one shy of Harry Grebs record.

Just look at these wins ffs.

                      Barney Ross
                      Tony Canzoneri
                      Lou Ambers
                      Young Corbett III
                      Pancho Villa
                      Billy Petrolle X2
                      Louis Kid Kaplan
                      Bud Taylor
                      Sammy Mandell X2
                      Benny Leonard
                      Fidel LaBarba
                      Sammy Fuller
                      Al Singer
                      Sid Terris
                      Joe Glick X3
                      Ruby Goldstein
                      Jackie Fields
                      Sergeant Sammy Baker
                      Ray Miller

And he done all that inside 70 fights.

McLarnin is not only one of the greatest welterweight's of all time he's also rated inside the top 10 to 25 greatest fighters of all time p4p. It's absolutely no contest at all.
