Comments Thread For: Eubank Jr. Eyes Golovkin - Claims Hearn Gave Away Fight To Brook

According to Chris Eubank Jr. (23-1, 18KOs), promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport backdoored him in the negotiations several months ago for a September fight with IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin.

Here's what Hearn said at the time:

'...Promoter Hearn claims that all discussions about the fight were handled by Eubank Snr and his lawyer.

"It was so frustrating," continued Hearn. "It was the crazy demands that meant the fight could not happen for Eubank Jr against Golovkin. They think it's negotiations but it's not a bluff when I say it's 24 hours to sign the contract. They were given a deadline and they chose not to take the fight."...

Back then, Eubank Jr complained that he didn't even see a contract, which implies Sr. and the lawyer didn't even show it to him.

Same contract was then offered to Brook, who took it.

Saying 'we're not yes men who will take anything thrown our way' just meant Sr. and the lawyer wouldn't say yes to the 3m-5m that Brook ended up saying yes to. Only difference was Brook didn't want to dictate who the announcers were on TV, what the ticket prices were and who would be on the undercard.

But confused now - Eubank is saying he is eyeing Golovkin again while moving out of Golovkin's weight class. And will Sr. now give up his demands to control the announcers, undercard and ticket prices ? Golovkin can't happen until Eubanks Sr agrees on who is promoting their side of the fight and where the boundaries are.

I always felt the same. That said, I think there's an A-side mentality with the Eubanks that's got to go. Being big fish in a small pond means little to a team that's got their guy doing HBO ppvs. Jr needs to look at this as an opportunity for greater things, rather than a payday. I doubt his dad sees it that way though.

Eubank Jr. is always ready to face GGG after GGG has a fight signed.

The Eubanks are loose cannons this last year cost them at least £5m.......every thing happens for a reason ...silly talk .Jr. came in against an unbeaten P4P champion with a loss on his record to BJS who alot don't rate and tried to run the show. Not a huge Hearn fan but I too would have taken that route as with the Eubanks ...they didn't sign would they sign, will they sign. Come on, Jr will be lucky to survive with this attitude and Sr. at this level of business is clueless.

Only all ten GGG trolls in the world would believe this is true. Simply plain lie by Eubank Jr.
