Kovalev did want to fight,he came forward all night and Ward stuck to jabs and slipping off to the side until the 8th.Very negative early on.Don't get upset because most people think you were lucky.They have the right to an opinion.Don't call people quitters who are trying to make the fight.Ward is the king of clinching and wrestling usually,he met his match here.

Ward fought scared the whole fight and should of lost but knew he just needed to survive to get the decision.

Kovalev, like his fans, felt so good about the KD that he failed to press for the rest of the fight, while Ward had a sense of urgency and worked his way back. You can't just KD and think you won. Lesson learned, the hard way.

Kovalev said himself he didn't press enough, didn't turn the screw when he had him hurt or as I saw it he could not finish him with the shots he was managing to land. I think Kovalev mentally folded after Ward refused to wilt in those 3-4 rounds after the 2nd, Kovalev looked a little flustered and late on he looked gassed.
