That's fascism if you ask me. **** USA
That's the unfortunate thing about this kind of hype, is that some take it seriously. Americans were actually becoming pretty sympathetic with, and respectful toward, the Russian people until the ********ic party recently told the public that the Russians are the enemy once again. It was cool to like Russia until mid 2016. Not even joking. It was sort of a rejection of the past, Cold War, and generations who reviled the "reds". Hilary spoiled that.

Ward would certainly never say anything like that. Virgil Hunter went off today about his knowledge of Russian history and his respect for the people. Don't let one douchebag soil your impression. This is just hype. A lot of us grew up watching Rocky IV. It's just cornball fun, not true elitism (for the majority of us).

i agree with you. Rocky 4 and tearing down the Berlin Wall ended a lot of this ish for americans. Virgil going off on that gey azz tangent tells me that they are very nervous and looking for any little thing they can find to use for even the smallest edge possible. I don't think they have been this worried for a fight ever, at least since his first step up in class vs kessler

I know that mother****er just trying to play the mind games. And I know there's a lot of americans who are good people - real recognize real, like Americans say, so I don't want to disrespect all of them. There's a good and bad people everywhere

But a lot of westerners believe in their exceptionalism and elitism (not saying all of them, but a lot of them do) and Ward's manager seems to be one of them. I've seen the examples of that mindset a lot of times, when I was traveling to other countries. You can see that on this site as well

I really don't understand the concept of that. When you think you're better than other people based on the fact that you belong to some certain nationality, race or religion, in most cases, it means you don't have no other accomplishments to be proud of, so you choose to brag about something you don't have nothing to do with. Because it's not like it's your personal accomplishment anyway - you weren't choosing the country you were born in or your ethnicity

And a lot of Americans trying to turn every debate into some racial thing, for example, it's unwritten rule that you can't like Pacquiao and Mayweather at the same time - you need to chose sides and they try to turn a fight between American boxer and Russian boxer into some political thing, like it's Cold War 2.0, Russia vs. USA and **** like that

Rocky 4 was a bunch of stereotypes based on Cold War with some scandinavian pretending as Russian, depicting Russians as cold hearted, emotionless people with no compassion - I remember that Russian b!tch was smiling when Apollo Creed died. China is the biggest geopolitical enemy of States, but in American media, even China is depicted in way more positive way than Russia - unlike China, Russia been their biggest ideological enemy since WW2.

I don't have problem with that because I uinderstand why they're doing this and I don't care what Americans think of Russia - they can say whatever they want about us - it's not about Russia, it's about the mindset of some people who look down on others because of their nationality

My point is, people like Ward's manager need to shut the **** up and stop making it sound like it's some political stuff, there's a lot of Ward fans in Russia and I'm pretty sure Kovalev got some American fans as well. That's the same kind of people who turn every boxing topic into racial debate, saying the stuff that make people choose sides, offends the opposite side with ignorant statements like this one, which makes that opposite side react in the same manner and it helps the negativity to spread further

For me, Andre Ward is way more likeable fighter than Kovalev, but I'd want Kovalev to win only because I don't want to hear ignorant **** like that in the future and because mother****ers like that manager need to go silent. If Kovalev lose it doesn't mean that will ruin my mood, because I like Ward, that just mean I'll be hearing more of that ignorant talk in the future

A long ass post but I hope my point is clear for people around here

Hopefully this will be rocky v Ivan Drago. I have a feeling it'll be a foul filled snoozer.

It makes complete sense. Just keep in mind, Americans in particular are quite self-deprecating these days. The things online are just like anything else online; people who have no voice in real life are the loudest when they're shrouded in anonymity.

Russia did just beat America in an election. Just saying.

Though Rocky did beat Drago. Maybe Prince is right.

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - James Prince, manager for unbeaten challenger Andre Ward (30-0, 15KOs), lit a fire in the pre-fight promotion for the upcoming showdown with WBO/IBF/WBA light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (30-0, 26KOs).
