I am saying that he should take the 10 mill because his bargaining position will only get worse with time. Canelo is going to fight Saunders, Brook, and maybe even Jacobs before GGG so that means that the fight won't happen until May 2018 at the earliest. Almost 2 years from now. The fight realistically won't happen in 2017 when Canelo is going to want a fight in May with Kell Brook I predict at a catchweight and then a warm up fight at the full 160. Then he will fight GGG, that is the earliest and may not even happen then.
GGG however has the problem of staying undefeated until then as well as sharp. I don't see that happening when he fights 4x per year and if he wants to fight top competition. Saunders and Jacobs alone will be tough fights.
Why do you think Canelo is going to fight Saunders and Jacobs first? K2 are currently in negotiations to fight Jacobs in January. Canelo is out until May, and I think it's highly unlikely that Oscar would put him in with Saunders at his first official MW fight. It would be too much of a risk. He'll probably end up fighting a B-C class fighter.

The bolded is even better. If he fights a B-C class fighter then it will take more time to get to the GGG fight. I think he will fight Brook however.

The bolded bit isn't better at all, unless GG were to lose. If Canelo is out for another 5 months and then he has an easy opponent in his first fight, that's bad for him. Because it gives GG the opportunity to fight Jacobs and BJS within that timeframe. Again, IF GG can beat those guys, then that would do 3 things:
1. It would give him every belt and huge leverage in negotiations.
2. There'd be no other champions at MW for Canelo to fight.
3. Again, it would put HUGE pressure on Oscar and Canelo to make the GG fight.
You're looking at things from the wrong perspective.
Unless GG loses, Canelo suffers through inactivity and an easy first opponent at MW.
Other than Brook, who else could he fight? I think his JMW days are over.
If you're a Canelo fan, you should be hoping that he recovers quickly from his injury and he fights BJS and beats him. Because if he doesn't, he won't be in a great position.Last edited by robertzimmerman; 10-26-2016, 05:33 PM.

The fans would DEMAND that Canelo fought GG instead.
