    Proof? I highly doubt that

Point is there is almost nobody else GGG can fight for even half that not to mention 10 mill. When you're making 2.5 mill per fight and a guy comes along and offers you 4x that then you don't say no, you make the fight happen yesterday. GGG is supposed to beat Canelo right? He has all to gain, Canelo is taking all the risk.
Canelo's probably the type of guy who's willing to pay extra if it means getting it on his terms (ie GGG farther away from his prime) so I wouldn't rule out GGG's end not increasing. GGG's probably still the 1 million viers or so draw on HBO even if he loses a step.

Canelo making $10 mil is meaningless if it isn't relevant in the context of the fight. If GGG deserves more money than $10 million in a Canelo fight, I could care less how much he made when he fought guys like Monroe/Stevens/etc nor do I care how much Canelo made in his other fights.

I don't see what's the rush in GGG needing to accept an offer over a year from when it was offered when Canelo said he wanted to fight +3 times before the fight actually happens when he can make a case to get some upside along the way.

Unless GGG were to lose to someone, the likeliest scenario is the fight happens in the future (Sept 2017 or later) and GGG gets more than $10 mil.

So what you're saying is if Canelo wanted to fight a virtual nobody. A journeyman...better yet a guy on his pro debut, he would have to pay him more than 10 million dollars? 10 million wouldn't be fair?

              Correct.

The specifics should be discussed next year behind closed doors.

I literally have no clue how you got to that conclusion at all.

I said the pay a fighter gets should be relative to the context of the fight being discussed (not what he got paid his last fight or what someone else got paid in another fight). I'm obviously not going to argue Canelo pay a journeyman more than $10 million if they don't deserve it. But that's not exactly the case here.

If someone was foolish enough to get underpaid in 1 fight, I don't see why that has to be the blueprint for the next guy to come along. So if Canelo got paid 5% of a purse split against Mayweather, I could give a damn when talking about other fights. Canelo obviously would've deserved more than 5% and I wouldn't have opposed him if he argued for more. But he accepted it and that's a decision he made so I don't see why he has to try and apply the same blueprint and force someone else to make the same decisions he did.

I mean if guys GGG/Canelo/Manny/Floyd/etc accepted to fight for $1.00, then that's on them but I'd not going to criticize them if they argue for a purse that's higher than what they were offered so long as it's justified and what they deserve.

                  The circumstances are very different.

                  Canelo is not Floyd.

Shane was at the end of his career, with nothing to lose.

Both GG and Canelo need each other.

The fight would be bigger than Floyd-Shane was.

GGG should have agreed to take the ten million and called Canelo's bluff. By taking away all of Canelo's excuses he could possibly create enough fan backlash to force the fight.
His team aren't going to accept a flat fee, 12 months out, from a company who have messed them around and who have proven to be untrustworthy.

They're not even going to acknowledge anything until they're face to face with each other where they can discuss the specifics.

Negotiations through the media are a joke.

Official purses for #CottoCanelo per NSAC: Cotto $15M, Canelo $5M. Both can make more on upside, Canelo likely getting more via Mexico TV.
