Willie Pepp, one of the top 3 best defensive fighters of all time, was white, same as Nicolino Locche.
It's competition, it's a sport, it's about winning, smart fighters win dumb fighters lose. Go watch an action movie or a street fight if u wanna c 2 brainless oafs slug it out, that has nothing to do with boxing.

"oh he doesnt cut off the ring". sounds like those dude that trys too hard to fit in.
Because the people saying "Cutting The Ring Off Doesn't Mean Anything" are not saying so with a motive at all right? Your favorite fighter is NOT so good at cutting the ring off so you want to dismiss that as being something important I get it

im just explaining that the term cutting off the ring gets used around here too often as if its the sole purpose to win a fight lol. your opponent moves to the right, you move to the right in an attempt to cut him off, he makes a sudden change and move to the left and then circle out and away he goes.
the person chasing the other guy will always be a step slower since you dont know what your opponent is gonna do, all your doing is waiting for a reaction so you can act up on it so your always going to be a step behind. some fighters can set up their punches better by coming in straight at you than to move to the side to try and cut the opponent off then set up his shot. by the time he does that, the opponent will be gone already just like i mention. its harder to throw when your moving to the side as compare to coming in straight and just throwing a punch out.

try throwing a punch while you're moving to the side and see how much leverage you can get off. now try throwing a punch while moving forward and see the difference. thats all im saying here. you really think fighters at this level doesnt know how to cut off the ring just because they dont do it often? lol.. like i said some fighters go thru a whole fight without even throwing a jab, but that doesnt mean they dont know how to throw one lol.

After 300 amateur fights you would think he'd be better at that basic skill or is Burn's footwork that good?
Margarito was a tremendous pressure fighter but I don't remember him cutting the ring off. Pavlik didn't cut off the ring either. Lomachenko is probably the best fighter in close quarters he doesn't cut off the ring.
Being able to cut off the ring doesn't automatically translate into more success. Just cause it works for GGG it doesn't mean it can work for everybody else.
Anybody can learn how to cut off the ring. The skills of just moving laterally with your opponent is not hard to master. What's hard is being able to punch off moving laterally and while you're always a step behind to be able to defend and counter punch with ease.
When you cut the ring off in most cases you get squared up and a lot of boxers don't want to expose their centre line like that.
For guys like Ruslan on the other hand, not cutting off the ring is inexcusable.Last edited by pesticid; 10-09-2016, 11:10 AM.

Chavez and GGG were/are great at cutting it off because they are very strong and durable with good defense and counter punching but not everybody can do it like that and be successful at it.
