We all know Foreman was not know for his speed at all during his Prime but one thing he did brilliantly even vs Ali was CUT THE RING OFF! It depends on how you do it, fighters today just not as skilled as their fans want others to believe. It is a lot of "GOOD" fighters currently fighting to day but "GREAT FIGHTERS" NO! I have yet to see a fighter this ERA that I can truly call "GREAT" all i see is HYPE and fans acting like GROUPIES towards certain fighters.

Great fighters can/could find ways to beat ALL STYLES!
like i said, your opponent will just move to the other direction and circle out of it. cutting off the ring doesnt mean anything. this whole "cutting off the ring" is being used too much on here to criticize fighters that doesnt do it. its actually funny. "oh he doesnt cut off the ring". sounds like those dude that trys too hard to fit in.

Willie Pepp, one of the top 3 best defensive fighters of all time, was white, same as Nicolino Locche.

It's competition, it's a sport, it's about winning, smart fighters win dumb fighters lose. Go watch an action movie or a street fight if u wanna c 2 brainless oafs slug it out, that has nothing to do with boxing.
actually no, boxing was started out as a way to solve dispute between two man. it later became a sport. i think you need to look up the history on boxing.. not sure why you're getting so mad about this calling fighters dumb? lol

nobody is saying you have to stand there with no defense and just take punches after punches. willie pep moved from side to side but will come back with combinations. he doesnt just get on his back foot and run. you can still slug it out duck, swing, etc. stop with the reaching.

          ...RIGHT

Because the people saying "Cutting The Ring Off Doesn't Mean Anything" are not saying so with a motive at all right? Your favorite fighter is NOT so good at cutting the ring off so you want to dismiss that as being something important I get it

im not trying to dismiss anything. whos my favorite fighter?

im just explaining that the term cutting off the ring gets used around here too often as if its the sole purpose to win a fight lol. your opponent moves to the right, you move to the right in an attempt to cut him off, he makes a sudden change and move to the left and then circle out and away he goes.

the person chasing the other guy will always be a step slower since you dont know what your opponent is gonna do, all your doing is waiting for a reaction so you can act up on it so your always going to be a step behind. some fighters can set up their punches better by coming in straight at you than to move to the side to try and cut the opponent off then set up his shot. by the time he does that, the opponent will be gone already just like i mention. its harder to throw when your moving to the side as compare to coming in straight and just throwing a punch out.

try throwing a punch while you're moving to the side and see how much leverage you can get off. now try throwing a punch while moving forward and see the difference. thats all im saying here. you really think fighters at this level doesnt know how to cut off the ring just because they dont do it often? lol.. like i said some fighters go thru a whole fight without even throwing a jab, but that doesnt mean they dont know how to throw one lol.

Your Opinion is just that, AN OPINION go talk to boxing trainers and go tell them your little "CUTTING OFF THE RING DON'T MATTER" theory so they can school you on why you're wrong. Not my job to convince you of anything you have your opinion and although I think your opinion is complete **** it is your opinion and you're entitled to it

After 300 amateur fights you would think he'd be better at that basic skill or is Burn's footwork that good?
Cutting the ring off is good for some people and not so good for others. When you cut off the ring you're always a step behind so while you're trying to gain that ground you're susceptible to get hit. Chavez and GGG were/are great at cutting it off because they are very strong and durable with good defense and counter punching but not everybody can do it like that and be successful at it.

Margarito was a tremendous pressure fighter but I don't remember him cutting the ring off. Pavlik didn't cut off the ring either. Lomachenko is probably the best fighter in close quarters he doesn't cut off the ring.

Being able to cut off the ring doesn't automatically translate into more success. Just cause it works for GGG it doesn't mean it can work for everybody else.

Anybody can learn how to cut off the ring. The skills of just moving laterally with your opponent is not hard to master. What's hard is being able to punch off moving laterally and while you're always a step behind to be able to defend and counter punch with ease.

When you cut the ring off in most cases you get squared up and a lot of boxers don't want to expose their centre line like that.

For guys like Ruslan on the other hand, not cutting off the ring is inexcusable.

You make a lot of good points. Relikh looks like a good young fighter. I guess he had to take the title shot when he got it , but it might have been too soon for him. BTW he's from Belarus
