I appreciate the honesty here. WBA should have ordered the GGG-Jacobs fight. However, just because they didn't order it doesn't mean that it couldn't have been made. I hope this tempers the fallacy that neither GGG nor Brook had anyone to fight (especially Brook, who is not scaring many people at 147). I understand people aren't lining up to fight GGG, but I think his team may think he is more of an A-side than he is... Not all of these fighters are the problem...

I remember Jacobs saying that. And that's fine to criticize Jacob for it. That has very little to do with what I said in regards to both fighters having other fights in their weight divisions.... I don't subscribe to the belief that none of the fights at MW are doable. I also don't subscribe to the fact that Brook couldn't find a fight. I feel like both of them want to big of a slice of pie that their relative interests don't generate. Make concessions and seal a bigger pay day later. The only reason why this fight will do well is because it's a spectacle, not because people think it will be crazy competitive. There are fights that can be made without having an unproven Brook come up two weight classes, if the boxers want them. Fighters can have a million reasons why a fight doesn't happen and I'm not trying to hear many of them.

"The Bradley fight was put in front of me, but I believe the mandatory position in the IBF is the right move," Brook said. "Eddie [Hearn] has worked hard to get me into this position and providing I beat Saldivia, I'll be fighting for a world title at the start of 2013, and it will be on my terms. I would love that to be in Sheffield, too, and I know Eddie would do his best to get it here as it would be an amazing event."
Said Hearn, "Top Rank contacted me in August and made us an offer for the Bradley fight. It was a nice ego boost for Kell to be offered a fight of such magnitude, but we begun this journey with a goal of becoming a mandatory challenger and now we are just one win away."
Brook (28-0, 18 KO) is coming off of a bit of a scary win over Carson Jones on July 7, and if he defeats Saldivia (41-2, 32 KO) as expected in October, his next fight theoretically would be against the winner of the Randall Bailey-Devon Alexander fight, which is also set for October 20 as part of Golden Boy and Showtime's big card at the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn...
It's not really a bad stance -- obviously they would like to talk this up as some noble pursuit, or doing things The Right Way or what have you, but truth is, Kell Brook did not look ready for a fighter on Timothy Bradley's level last time out, and at 26, there's no tremendous rush to get him there, either.

Jacobs might be trying to drag his feet on the WBA mandate.
Danny Jacobs' camp is currently discussing whether it makes sense to face GGG in 2016 or start of 2017 - The Ring
— Mitchell Abramson (@mabramson13)
I'd like to see them agree to each fight separately in December, but sign an agreement to fight in March. Then it could be on ppv and maybe in NYC.Last edited by Eastcoast; 09-07-2016, 02:27 PM.
