Diaz is the Brandon Rios of MMA. If you throw 100 punches against him you'll land 95. Where's the skill in just getting punched all night

The UFC absolutely ****s all over boxing when it comes to producing great events and match-ups. Anyone being pedantic about Nate's ranking is just wasting their energy. First time the match-up produced the shock defeat of the biggest draw in the sport. Second time it produced a war. That's what counts.

Too often boxing serves up a dog**** product to the casuals fans who decide to take a chance on it. And when those fans get pissed, boxing fans turn around and say "**** those dumb casuals, what do they know." They know they'll be buying the UFC card next time, that's what they know.

I love them both but boxing is my first love and the sport I love the most. I have seen lots of MMA fights that were not very action packed. Some MMA fights have two guys who are basically boxing and they are lousy boxers. They both stand way out of range of each other and hardly through any punches. It looks like they are scared to death they might get hit with a punch. If boxers fought like that they would get booed out of the ring. Some MMA fights are thrilling and exciting and other MMA fights are dull and boring. Boxing is no more or less exciting than MMA fights. It all depends on the fight you are watching.

Sorry to jump in, but you're definitely missing the difference in weight. In your example, it would be equivalent to Tim Bradley pulling out of a fight and Pacquaio accepting David Lemieux as a replacement.

I don't think he'd get "destroyed" by the fans. Smaller great boxer fighting a bigger good boxer is a perfectly fine match up in my mind.

would have thought haye or ortiz would have been happy to have filled in.

              1. You hype up Nate Diaz as more than a mid level contender. When he was ranked..what? 8? And after he win the first fight, moved up to 4. If 4-8 isn't mid level contender what is? PBP stated facts, you try to sugarcoat to make your point.

              2. You bring up Wilder vs Arreola. An obscure fight watched by 800,000 people in Alabama. How can this be compared to this UFC megafight in Vegas with the biggest star in the sport? When you make comparisons, be consistent please.

Let's do a real, accurate comparison. Boxing's biggest star over the past few years...is Mayweather...the numbers support that.

Let's say Mayweather fought the Nate Diaz equivalent of boxing. Who would that be? Tough, well respected, middle ranked contenders.

              Maidana?
              Guerrero?

I think that's generous. I could say K9 Bundrage or Carlos Molina which I think is more accurate. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Surely isn't a Cotto, Canelo or Pacquiao.

Mayweather vs. Maidana and Guerrero were heavily criticized by boxing fans.

              It's a clear double standard.
deontay wilder is heavyweight champion of the world lol, is quite a big name in the sport. The fact you say it was an obscure fight kind of emphasises my point about mismatches and fighters picking easy stand in opponents, noone wanted to watch it. Im just saying its rare in boxing for someone to pull out and then pick a dangerous stand in opponent as mcgregor did, and im confused as to why you are trying to say its a crap match up as a stand in opponent, it obviously wasnt as the fight showed, diaz may have surpassed your expectations but mma people knew he was a solid fighter especially with the weight advantage as it proved.

Sorry to disappoint but I already debunked the myth that Deontay Wilder ducks on the contrary anyone whos been paying attention knows its the opposite.

yeah, thats what i was trying to get at. I watch both sports with people who are considered 'combat sport casuals' and they seem to enjoy the mma now more than the boxing, especially because these cards are usually stacked and even if the main event turns out to be a dud, theres entertainment elsewehere in the card. Its a shame cause i think the actual sport is better with boxing (standing up throwing punches) rather than MMA/UFC for the most part. But theres massive differences in how the sports are run and i think UFC is addressing a lot of the deficiences that has got people less and less interested in boxing over the years.
