A lot of white americans cling to the euro fighters. I think the last very good white champion we have was Kelly Pavlik. He could have been a hall of famer IMO had he had a run at 168/. they are good fighters over their but Most countries support their own. American fans look at race.

Its hard to be patriotic when you get love from other countries more than your own. P4P greats Like Hopkins, Ward, Roy Jones, Mayweather and others have all made it clear how they feel on the topic.
I agree with u. Im a Mexican-American, 2 of my favorite fighters are African American (Wilder & Ward) so I see a lot of hate from "certain" posters & it raises a big red flag to me. Bottomline is, as boxing fans we should all be dissappointed this fight is not happening. & in all reality theres only one person to blame, & thats Povetkin. Ive read a lot of people bring up weed comparing it to what Povetkin popped for (which is absurd imo) but lets be real, if Wilder popped for bud & Povetkin turned the fight down, itd be his right & we could only blame Wilder for us not getting to see the fight. So shame on Povetkin for screwing us on a good fight.

With that said, to add to what I originally brought up, theres a lot of hidden racism on these boards. The whites on here try n hide their bias which to me is b1tch made, if u are pro white just say it, i have respect for that, i even sent a green k to a poster for saying he supports white boxers cuz they look like him bcuz thats being real. But to white dudes defense society makes whites have to hide their Aryan pride.

On the otherhand theres a lot of pro black posters on here that believe racism in boxing only exist against blacks which is laughable. The ones that really get me are the ones that claim to be boxing fans and have a list of all favorite black fighters with maybe 1 afro-cuban lol but they boxing fans doe & they jump on any anti Haymon thread "backing boxing" but would love to see gbp & tr fail but they boxing fans doe. Than to the brothas defense they have a right to be defensive because they do get forced into an un-necessary roll in boxing & they are underappreciated for that at least til they retire or die.

Than u have the Latino posters on here that are a lil more blatant with their predjudices but to me it makes "us" sound like jealous ass haters. The ones that believe theres only one way to box kills me, its like leave that macho ass crap in the streets, this is a freaken sport where athleticism prevails 9x's out of 10. But to the Latinos defense, the reason why (aside from Floyd) they are revered is because they do put on good shows & make nice purses because they do so.

& id touch on the Asian fans but since #ko6 & #49 they had enough grief & humble pie so ilm leave dem alone lol!

& if anyone took offense to this idgaf. U all know deep down its real talk.

Black people stick with their own too. Look at how you only mention black boxers as an example at the end. Ward isn't even great yet, he can. Also, we're talking about cheaters and you mention Jones who's a cheater too. It's rare to find fairness.

Wilder needed this fight. That's a fact. He needed a big name. This name would have put the heavyweight domain on notice.

Povetkin failed a test he shouldn't have for a substance that is banned under dubious circumstances.

The amount was trace. Nowhere near enough to warrant such a fiasco.

Meldonium is an over-the-counter drug. Readily available, readily accessible, used by both athletes and non-athletes for whatever reasons.

You've got two sides. People who blindly follow the rules and people who dig deeper into what's going on.

                      Now here's where I diverge.

I think Wilder would beat Povetkin after having early trouble. I think Povetkin's reach would cause him to lose the fight ultimately. So no, I'm not defending Povetkin as a fighter.

Where I and many others are having issues with this situation is with the drug, the timing of the finding and the trace amount. It all stinks.

                      1. It's an over the counter drug. It'd be like failing a test for naproxin (i.e. Advil) and them saying it gives you a performance boost because it numbs your head. Just because they say so, with no evidence of such on a healthy fighter.

                      2. It was TRACE AMOUNTS. Just prior to this they said the trace amounts were acceptable so long as the finding was prior to the end of March. So they're ok with the drug, just not a lot of it? You're either banning the drug or you're not. This is fishy.

                      3. He just happens to fail a test for trace amounts A WEEK BEFORE THE FIGHT and after passing 3 tests? Really? This is fishy.

I'm sorry, but the whole situation just doesn't make sense, and I'm not one of those to just blindly say "welp, your Advil's banned doe!" Screw that. If it's a true anabolic steroid worthy of attention, I'm all for a ban. If he was literally sweating meldonium, I'm all for a ban because there's no reason to have that much in the system if it's the****utic use.

But under the current facts, the situation is suspect. That's why I support Povetkin this one time.

Now, if later the fight is scheduled and he fails for an anabolic, ban him. Period point blank, as Broner would say.
These posts make good points. Let's wait for the result of further tests on Povetkin before we start calling for him to be banned. If he did stop taking this stuff when it went on the banned list then he has done nothing wrong.

And to all you people saying that Wilder is using this to duck Povetkin ... shut up and stop being so blatently biased!

Wilder most definitely has not done anything wrong. He tested clean and was ready to fight clean. End of.

I'm wondering now about the status of Ryabinski's winning purse bid, if the fight is rescheduled. It isn't going to take place at the date and location he stipulated in his bid, and it's his side who are responsible for that, so will Wilder's team get another chance to bid for it themselves?

Also, if Povetkin is allowed to remain as Wilder's mando, that should be conditional on he and Ryabinski paying compensation to Deontay for all the money he has lost training for a fight that didn't happen. I don't know if the WBC rules allow for a condition like that, but it should be looked at.
