The difference between Floyd Pac and Canelo is that Floyd and Pac won their belts at LMW and then resumed their careers at 147. Canelo has won his belt at MW BUT HAS NOT AND PROBABLY CANNOT resume his career at LMW. If he could fight at 154 it would have made little difference to him to drop a lb and make a more even fight with Khan who is already coming up 7 lbs. The fact he didn't is telling.

IF GGG allows him to keep this belt why does he need to resume his career at 154 or any other weight? And his last fight he made 155 easily didn't look spent at all on the scales and his camp said if it were for a title fight he could make 154. And you clearly don't know what you talking about Manny defended his 147 belt at 144 catchweight with Algieri the same belt he won not at 147 but a catchweight that he imposed over the then champion Cotto. Cotto was the champ but couldn't get the fight without agreeing to a catchweight despite the fact Manny had already fought other fighters at full 147 and fought others at 147 AFTER Cotto.

Floyd has fought at the full 154 limit twice once because he was the B side and Oscar dictated that demand or there was no fight and second when he fought Cotto a year before he fought Canelo yet against Canelo he imposed the catchweight under 154. Simply because he could and because he believed Canelo at 154 was tougher challenge to him then Cotto was. Just like Manny demanded the Catchweight for Cotto despite already fighting a shot Oscar at 147 and didn't need it for clottey and others. NONE OF THIS IS NEW. The one difference here is Canelo has been consistent about his weight regardless of the opponent and he doesn't have different weights depending on the challenger like GGG does (ward 164 everyone else 168, Floyd/Manny 155 but Canelo has to be 160). And clearly Manny and Floyd depending on the fighter the catchweight's have been different. Canelo was fighting 155 before GGG and his next opponent was also 155. That's his weight you want him come to his weight he's the bigger star.

So much BS in one thread. GGG lost nothing by taking step aside $$$. His goal is unification. He got paid to let Cotto fight Canelo. In the meantime, he beats Lemieux for the IBF title. He lets Canelo have a voluntary. In the meantime, he takes care of his IBF mando so he can keep his belt. Canelo can keep the belt warm for Golovkin all he wants as long as Gennady has business to take care of keeping or acquiring a MW belt.

That was ALMOST 2 years ago saying the winner of the Canelo/Cotto fight will either fight us or vacate. That didn't happen because the GGG camp first allowed Cotto to fight not one but 2 voluntary defenses. Then let Canelo fight a voluntary defense. They talk tough about making fighters get their belt stripped or forcing them to vacate and then flip flop and bend over and agree to allow them to keep the belt and fight someone. They are frauds and don't give a crap about winning another paper vacant belt. They want the big named fight but they foolishly think they are the big name that gets to dictate the terms. Canelo had to agree to Floyd's catchweight and he was a much bigger star then GGG is. Why shouldn't he do the same?

That's the point he's making, WBC requested Cotto/Canelo, and Canelo requested khan.

But they are saying if Canelo now refuses, they'll assume he isn't serious and they'll take the title and move on.

Chavez BARELY could make 160 at that time and today can't even make 170. He couldn't fight Sergio below 160 even if he wanted to. Canelo makes 155 EASY! He's fought everyone the last few years at either 154 or 155 this isn't a new requirement just for GGG. So if you want to fight the bigger star you have to go to his weight to do so. If all you care about is the belt then stop stepping aside and you can have that belt. Nobody is forcing him to drop weight for the title. He could of had the title last year if that was the case. What Canelo is saying is you need to drop weight if you want to fight me I'm the bigger star and we fight on my terms. Kind of like GGG said to Ward just last year.
