He didn't but it's a mismatch and he could get hurt...he hardly had or has the best chin at 140 anyway and he has looked less than convincing in his last few fights ...props to khan for taking a huge risk but in my eyes it's task he has no chance of winning...and if goldenboy has to drag a welterweight who has been on unsteady legs up to face there golden goose who will probably outweigh him by 20@bs just to give canelo a good ppv rating....then there options are piss poor

He had to be getting paid well for it. He wouldn't be doing it otherwise.

        +1 on the Watchmen reference.
Damn at Wu-Tang Forever nearly being 20 years old.

Him chasing Pac and May was real. He wanted them.

It's all about testing yourself, but also getting exposure. He wants to be a marketing supremo.
Being fearful in boxings weight categories can sometimes be sensible and prolongs a career I know you used the word ****** and you're probably right. If Khan was to take a real prolonged hammering here and there's every chance he will, it really could be a career ending fight for less than half of what he would get against the champion in his weight class who is unbeaten and beat a highly rated guy for the title, that would be a test.
Only once did Amir 'test' himself and that was against Maidana, he did well.
Only Khan can prove that this is the right move for him, level headed thinking tells me it's beyond a challenge and he will be exposed in a way he didn't want.
I think we'll see among other things that there is a reason for having weight divisions , had Khan been a Phenomenon at welter I might be more keen and his inactivity is frightening. The more I think about this the bigger farce it seems, it's going to happen I hope I'm wrong.

GBP has no power to drag any fighter from a different promotional company up in weight. This decision was Khan's. The most GBP can do is reach out and make an offer. Khan could have said yes or no. It also puts more pressure on Canelo/GBP to face GGG next as this matchup is being looked at as a cherry pick.

With that said, I think this entire size disparity is being blown a bit out of proportion. Yes Canelo will probably outweigh Khan by about 15lbs on fight night but Khan is the taller fighter with a slightly longer reach and faster hands. Not to mention his chin has been holding up better since his move to 147.

This won't be the mismatch that everyone thinks it will be.

Are you sure, that's a lot of money to turn down.

In his delusional mind, Khan just gave away the sparrow in his hand for the crow sitting on the fence... The poor guy possibly dreams to win the MW belt and thus make Floyd return from retirement and fight him for a huge payday...
                ... poor ****** guy...

$8 mil just to get pounded rather than $4-6 mil to have a tough fight that you might win.

I understand it but you'd think in any sport a well paying win is more valuable than a high paying loss.

Who has he boxed as a welterweight with a known punch....Alexander , algieri or collazo and for you to say his chin is holding up ..he has simply avoided any fighter that has any pop what so ever so yeah his chin has held up against these so called Big punchers.....taller makes no difference and he pretty much is the same height but his body will look like a kids compared with canelo....and yes rumour has it golden boy and canelo purposely sought this fight out and initiated the whole dialogue...when Khan got let down by pacquaio golden boy contacted khans team apparently..as I said in previous posts khans movement will do well for the first 4 or 5 rounds but once canelo starts landing heavy body shots he will start to bring Khan off his toes and punish him and by the end of the 8th round Khan will be broken......its a mismatch to the fact that Khan cannot possibly win.....whether it looks ok for the first 5 rounds is irrelevant the outcome will always end up with Khan knocked out or badly stopped.....we can have the points bet.....I stake everything I have that Khan don't see beyond 8th round....what do you say ?

Wise words and I agree...Khan has no chance of winning this fight and it should be barred from happening.....if Khan was dominant as welterweight and was a good champion then I would say ok let's see what he can do with canelo.....but he hasn't been....he hasn't faced a fighter who can punch at welterweight has avoided a puncher at all costs.....surely there was a fighter at 154 or even middleweight that could have made it a more competitive fight ... I think goldenboy are actually at fault here because there desperate for ppvs and there putting numbers in front morality
