Comments Thread For: Kovalev's Manager Reveals The Terms For Stevenson Unification

Egis Klimas, the manager of unified light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev, wasn't all that amused by the antics of WBC titlist, Adonis Stevenson, after his fighter stopped Jean Pascal in their rematch this past Saturday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Adonis team (haymon) is scared to face Kovalev and is not telling him the truth of what is being offered, Adonis is yelling 50/50 and thats what they already offered him lol. Looks like some vital information of the contract are being misrepresented to Adonis so that the fight wont take place.

none of this is true so stop making things up

anyway this fight is not a ppv fight and i doubt it hits 300k buys. This fight should be in canada where kov has fought and stevenson is still known. In amercia this fight flops

Kovalev's team resigned to HBO knowing the fight was out there. No one forced them to make that move then try to have Stevenson, a Haymon fighter, fight on HBO. Its like they are more concerned with making Haymon look bad than actually getting the fight done.

Also sounds like team Kovalev was a little shook considering they're bringing up Stevenson's people coming in the ring with him

This fight should have happened years ago. Right around the time Stevenson put Chad Dawson away.

Nobody is scared of anyone; Stevenson and his camp simply wanted to see if Showtime (the network that bet on him when HBO decided that they only needed to lock up Kovalev with a longterm deal) could be cut in on the deal for the biggest fight that he's likely to have in his career.

If HBO doesn't want to share the PPV, negotiate the deal to salvage the fight; have HBO carry the live PPv broadcast, but offer Showtime an option to pick up the re-air of the fight if they want (HBO footage of the fight, SHO screen effects, SHO crew calling the fight on tape delay).

HBO keeps the PPV share, Showtime gets the opportunity to show Stevenson's biggest fight to their audience, seguaying right into Stevenson-Fonfara (if Stevenson were to lose) or Stevenson-Alvarez(if Stevenson were to win) on Showtime

I doubt this fight does 300K on pay-per-view. As dangerous as Kovalev is, he sells no tickets anywhere. They had to give away most of the tickets for his Las Vegas fight and the NJ casinos won't take him back unless he has a real opponent across the ring.

but adonis isnt with showtime, he hasnt been on showtime since 2014 lol, that just a ruse to block the fight.

I am a man that can never tell a lie and if true Kovalevs team has a point. Sounds like a fair offer to me. Stevenson has made it clear that he wants to cash out at the end of his career. His team needs to do him this favor and let him fight on HBO.

They tried making it then. The night Stevenson fought Bellew, Main Events had offered Stevenson a unification fight. Instead, Kovalev battered Sillakh on the undercard.
