Its pretty basic math, if you add the cost of fighter pay to the cost of Primetime Fox network time, your already hovering 5 mill.

We have not even added in the cost of putting the event on, marketing, etc.

Of all the networks, I liked Fox's broadcast the most. Good atmosphere for the main event. Good job..

Exactly I watched shobox on Friday PBC on Saturday and I'll be watching hbo next Saturday cause I watch and support all boxing!
That's exactly how I feel! Never understood fans endorsing specific networks instead of supporting the sport as a whole.

It bothers me that figure skating does double the numbers.
Figure skaters also did better numbers than Cleveland-Chicago.
****, I guess America really is getting soft.....

I could see Cotto vs Marquez on Univision doing big numbers.

              Not surprised

This fight wasn't going up against a NFL playoff game

Are people kidding. these numbers ARE NOT great. Fox finished dead last in the ratings against the other networks they compete against.

                  Total prime ratings
                  CBS 5.14
                  NBC 3.69
                  ABC 3.49
                  FOX 2.24

And per show breakdown PBC had the worst ratings of any primetime show saturday night.

Time Show Adults 18-49 Rating/Share Viewers (millions)
                  8 p.m. Premier Boxing Champions (FOX) (8-10 p.m.) 0.7/3 2.24
                  NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS) – R 0.6/2 4.85
                  U.S. Figure Skating Championships (NBC) (8-11 p.m.) 0.6/2 3.69
                  NBA Countdown (ABC) 0.6/2 2.49

                  8:30 p.m. NBA Saturday Primetime (ABC) (8:30-11 p.m.) 1.4/5 3.69

                  9 p.m. 48 Hours (CBS) 0.8/3 4.97

                  10 p.m. 48 Hours (CBS) 0.9/3 5.61

If you compare it to what NBC pulled for the PBC debut last year which got a 3.4 rating it's down by more then 1/3. Also if you compare this what UFC debuted on FOX at 5.7 it's terrible hell the preliminary fights UFC does on Fox typically get better ratings then this. And all those UFC fights cost a fraction of the price because the fighter purses are so cheap and UFC doesn't have to pay FOX a time share buy worth millions.

The numbers sound good but ofcourse you have the usual anti-haymon people explaining why the numbers should be laughed at and not celebrated. You really have to wonder if these guys are boxing fans ATALL.

Celebrated? It finished DEAD Last in every category. And to put in perspective UFC on FS1 the smaller sister station to Fox just did 2.288 Million viewers last Sunday night. Smaller sister station on Sunday and it started at 10pm. And that entire card combined paid all the fighters what less then 1mil total. Haymon just paid like 5mil for the purses and STILL has to kick back about 1mil per show to Fox for the time buy. They spending way more money to get LESS ratings. And Steve Kim reported they only sold less then 3000 tickets for the fight. And had to give away the rest for free just to get people to show up. This fight cost PBC a boat load of money and got weak ratings in return.
