Is Andre Ward more likely to beat Tripple G than the other way around?

Cool story bro, so you can only predict fights after the fact? I could say exactly the same thing about GGG, where is Kovalev in this equation? Kovalev and Golovkin don't fight similar, Kovalev - Ward is far, far more competitive than Ward - GGG. Ward would win quite easily at 168 against Golovkin.

Ward is larger, and has the much better inside game. I think he smothers GGG, makes it rough and ugly, and forces him to fight on his backfoot and without the spacing he wants/needs. Terrible, terrible style clash for GGG in my opinion. That said, I'd be rooting for GGG to win. That's for damn sure.

Ward is bigger, faster, and better technically. He's faced big punchers, and his chin isn't an issue.

hmmm where have i seen this match up before

        pac- mayweather,

i understood why ppl gave pacquiao a shot, dude is so unorthodox and fast

don't see how GGG beats ward

As other poster said earlier, the Murray fight is the path to beat Golovkin.

see the first 3 rounds of that fight:

now my notes, just focusing on what Murray did, and what was effective against GGG:

          1st round:

          - Murray going with the body jab
          - jab and body work
          - holding and using size advantage

          2nd round:

          - even round, holding and exchange of punches
          - Murray continues body work

3rd round up to the half:

          - Murray continues body work
          - center of the ring action

from this point it was useless GGG's power took over...11TKO

The first two rounds were very good rounds for murray, but then GGG knew how to control those clinches and body attacks(he tried to block the damage to a minimun)

So Ward in order to beat GGG needs to do:

          - Keep the fight on the center of the ring(ala Monroe jr)
          - Keep punishing the body, that will pay of eventually
          - Jab to the death, altough this going to be hard, GGG counters the jab very often
          - Clinching, holding, rough him up, use size advantage, etc."inside game" would be one of the keys to win rounds.
          - Be in the perfect shape of your life...Golovkin's power is going to get you one way or another.

all that being said, this would be one hell of a fight, and obviously more exciting that may-pac.

Don't talk about him in the same breath as triple G. If you can't spot the difference you don't know **** about boxing or human behaviour.

This Ward cat will get chewed up and spat out of he ever, ever dares to step in the ring with GGG or Kovalev. That is like printing money - I will lump everything I have on Kov in that - but in my wildest dreams I cannot see Andrea taking it, contract or not - he will have his period that day and all bets will be off.

            Gimme a break.
Butt hurt Froch fan mad because Ward handled him so easily?

It is a 50/50 fight imo. Neither guy has ever fought an opponent as talented as the other.

2 years ago I would have leaned towards Ward, mainly due to size, but his inactivity will have taken his edge away and some he may never get back.

Easy work for Ward. Too big, too strong to good on the inside. I can't imagine any scenario of GGG winning this fight. His team knew this too which is why they offered to fight Froch and Chavez instead of the better, riskier Ward.

Ward bullies him, negates his power, frustrates him and wares him down to win an easy decision. Kovalev is a much better matchup stylistically against Ward.

Ward might whitewash GGG if they fought. Never going to happen though.

Not solely his defense, his offense does as well, at times he doesn't even throw on the inside. Those are some of the things that stick out.

"old school inside working", "roughhouse", "smothering"... we know... the problem is that Ward isn't fighting these days. Again.
