Comments Thread For: Wilder-Povetkin Eyed For April/May By Ryabinsky

The negotiations have already begun, but wealthy Russian businessman and promoter, Andrei Ryabinsky, is looking to stage Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34KOs) vs. Alexander Povetkin (30-1, 22KOs) on a date in April or May.

Gonna be pretty funny when Wilder knocks Povetkin out.

But one thing is for certain, this will not take place in Russia where they will rob Wilder. It will take place the USA and that is not negotiable.

Looks like Wilder is going to be lined up for a solid year. The Szpilka fight will be pretty good but the Povetkin fight would be awesome.

Wilder has already said he wants to travel because that's what a World champion does. As long as the WBC enforces it's new VADA program and not RUSADA it's all good

Wilder may want to travel, but Haymon knows what's best for him. And that doesn't include getting shafted in a foreign country. Haymon has way more money than this Russian dude anyway if it comes down to a purse bid.

That Russian is a billionaire, no way haymon beats him in a purse bid
I just hope whatever is going on with Russian testing and wbc clears up

My guess is they'll make a deal before it goes to purse bid and Povetkin will face Wilder in the US.

People laughed at Duva when she made the excuse about Russian future commodities markets and currency problems but it had a bit of truth to it. The West has placed sanctions on Russia. Oil prices have dropped dramatically. And the Russian Ruble has been devalued.

Ryabinsky isn't throwing that money around like he used to. I remember this article on here where Huck said he could get paid more fighting in the US than fighting Lebedev in Russia.

He may have the money to win and put the show on in Russia but do the people have the money to attend and are the sponsors gonna spend?
