Can you point to a single card that HBO has even paid out $3m for?
Why would Haymon subsidize a Showtime card? Maybe Showtime's not as ****** as we think. Why does Haymon overpay all his fighters waaaaay beyond their market value? Lara a million dollars vs Rodrigues? Lol... I believe OnePunch mentioned Showtime only paid $2mill for that entire card, let alone the Jacobs/Quillin fight.

In 2015, HBO paid well over $3mill for Canelo/Kirklan (nearly $5mill) and Cotto/Geale. I don't know what they paid for Kovalev/Pascal I or Klitschko/Jennings because they were subsidized by strong gates and international tv, but those purses were well over $3mill. And then there was the time they paid $3mill for the Ward/Rodriguez snore-fest. So yes, if HBO thinks it's a worthy investment, they'll pay it.

Had it 115-111 Saunders. His speed and elusiveness and movement were the key factors... As well as the knockdowns, first one was a huge knockdown

The point is that the UK has one in seven of the championships whereas it certainly doesn't have a seventh of the population of the major boxing nations.

It is really over-achieving considering the size of its population when compared to the USA, Mexico, Japan, Germany, Philippines, Thailand etc. Perhaps only Puerto Rico can better this champions/population stat.

It would be interesting to see an article on why this is happening, an in depth analysis. I don't really expect to find an article like that on this site but if any of you see it on another site please give me a heads up.

His only two significant fights are against Eubank and Lee. He hasn't looked exceptional against either.

People can deride Golovkin's level of opposition, but they are no worse than any other MW's comp and but he HAS looked exceptional in dismantling all of them - all 21 in a row of whatever the number is.

Andy Lee keeps calling out GGG? It'll be 3 rounds TKO or 5 rounds he'd be knocked unconscious!

More like 2-4 grades lower. Act like you know about boxing at least.

There's been no evidence even hinting at the Showtime cards being operated with any PBC money; from the presentation of the cards, the way sponsors are lined in the rings, and the extra freedom allowed to the fighter camps, it's beyond obvious that Showtime fight cards and PBC fight cards are handled differently.

Lara-Rodriguez was actually broadcast on SpikeTV, so now it's even more clear that you're arguments against that show are **** (even if Lara got $1m, the fighter costs of delivering the fight card to SpikeTV likely didn't come to $2m once everything was counted).

Canelo-Kirkland was likely significantly subsidized by the money brought in from the Mexico TV deal, with Kovalev-Pascal massively subsidized by the money that came in from Canadian PPV (let alone the money that came in on the gate); there's not enough info present to even make a guess at what the Klitschko-Jennings fight was worth to HBO.

Cotto is arguably one of the four biggest stars in the sport, so HBO may have opened up the pocket for that fight. Before that, you have to go back TWO YEARS to maybe find a number. lol

In 2015 alone, Showtime opened up the pocketbook for Stiverne-Wilder, ChavezJr-Fonfara, Wilder-Molina, and Jacobs-Quillin, with the likelihood of also opening up the pocketbook for Wilder-Szpilka, Wilder-Fury, Jack-ChavezJr, and Degale-Jack/ChavezJr, among other fights (Brook vs Khan is likely headed to the UK, putting it on as an afternoon international show on Showtime).

HBO chose to put Golovkin-Lemieux on PPV, rather than opening up their pocket, because they didn't want to back their fighter, yet you expect HBO to lay out $3m+ to host a fight where only one fighter is aligned with them beyond just this one fight? lol
