Was Fury vs Wladimir Close Enough To Deserve A Rematch?

The magnitude of the event may be enough to warrant a rematch I admit. Fury upset Wladimir and became the first person to defeat him for a decade. I'm interested in seeing the remach just to see if Wladimir can somehow adjust and come out victorious which would solidify him as an ATG for even the most staunch of doubters, I think.

But lets remove the heavyweight titles, let's remove reputation of the pugilists.
Let's just focus on the actual fight itself as a standard boxing match. Was the first fight close enough to deserve a rematch, assuming we just view it as a standard fight and take away all the glitz and glamour surrounding it?

If it was just a normal fight with no belts on the line, would you think a rematch is completely justifiable or would seem totally unnecessary based on how the first fight played out?

    No. Too one-sided ya know?

It was decisive but lackluster enough for me to be accepting of a rematch for Wladimir to show if he has become unworthy of the crown. He needs to fight with urgency and Fury will have to amp it up and be land cleaner to put this man away.

Nothing happened. It couldn't have been lower in terms of combat. When a 10 year champ loses a title in that manner, of course there should be a rematch. I think Wlad needs to retire but if he doesn't, rematch makes sense.

          A 12-0 wipeout ?

It was as one-sided as Wlad vs Wach, I didn't see anyone asking for that rematch. But it is what it is.

Not really. But Wladimir deserves the first shot to attempt to regain his titles after his 12 year old reign.

Fury lands 34 more punches across the entire 12 rounds and it's a wipeout? You NSBrs can be so delusional. A guy lands 86 punches in the WHOLE fight and it's a spectacle to behold, no rematch necessary. The only explanation for it is fear. Come on, Fury can do it again, don't have so little faith.

A wipeout in terms of rounds won.

The 12th was the only clear Wlad round iirc, but I did give him a couple of others just because, so no. Not worthy of a rematch imo.

It wasn't a close fight at all. Rematch? He beat the king, let the ex king have a chance to reclaim the throne, if he can.
