The fight wasn't very close and it was crap to watch, but when there is an upset this big then a rematch is almost automatic. It wasn't like Wladimir took a frightful beating.

Was Fury vs Wladimir Close Enough To Deserve A Rematch?

I don;t particularly want to see that garbage again and have my doubts about Wlad actually doing something differently. However, even if fury won 9 rounds about 7 of them were won by an inch so it is not like Wlad has some Herculean task to win those rounds.
The question to ask in a rematch is can the other guy win, based on how little Fury actually accomplished in his winning rounds then yea Wlad can win because he only has to do a tad better to win.

But lets remove the heavyweight titles, let's remove reputation of the pugilists.
Let's just focus on the actual fight itself as a standard boxing match. Was the first fight close enough to deserve a rematch, assuming we just view it as a standard fight and take away all the glitz and glamour surrounding it?
If it was just a normal fight with no belts on the line, would you think a rematch is completely justifiable or would seem totally unnecessary based on how the first fight played out?
But there is a lot more to it than just that so the rematch is certainly justified. I just really hope it's at least remotely watchable this time. But honestly, I also want Fury to win again because I think everyone (well, everyone that isn't one of the obsessive Wlad fans) is tired of how ****ing banal the heavyweight division has become with Wlad at the top. A decade of utter trash in terms of actual fighting to be frank. I can't think of any other champion that has had such a long run of genuinely cringeworthy fights at the pinnacle of the division. I just hope that Fury doesn't fall into a similar pattern of using nothing but clinches as his primary goal in a fight. In fact I don't even care anymore who is at the top as long as we are seeing some good, exciting fights that aren't dominated by clinch after clinch after clinch after clinch after clinch...on and on forever. It's awful to watch.
I do think however that even if Fury did, the refs in the US and UK would be more likely to actually penalise him because he's not fighting in Germany where the entire promotion was based on keeping him winning like it was with Wlad and he's not the only star on the rise with good backing so that should create more of a fair shake than we were seeing with Wlad's fights.
I think I can speak for most people though when I just want to get this rematch the hell out of the way so we can get on with making some fights at the top of the division that won't be painful, unwatchable clinchfests.
