Catch weights for world title fights are completely inexcusable. Defending any fighter/trainer/promoter who asks for them is bull****. I'm certain that someone will jump in here and lay out the history of catch weights, starting back in 1890 or something, but that doesn't validate anything, so spare us all.

I'm a Canelo fan and I don't like catchweights, but we have the Mayweathers and Cotto's to thank for this that has influenced the new era of fighters.


As much as I dont like catchweights looks like were gonna have to get used to it because this is the way the modrn day fighter is going

There's an easy solution to all of this.

Strip Canelo. Give the title to GGG. Then make the fight at whatever weight GGG and Canelo agree to.

Canelo can insist on others meeting him at 155, but he can't do that while holding on to a MW title.

Exactly what i've been saying all along, give the title to GGG then fight at whatever catchweight they agree on in a non title fight.

The real shame is all the Canelo fans who you know up until two weeks ago would talk down on a fighter trying to do the same thing Canelo is doing. Mexicans like tough guys that stand and fight, all about machismo, etc....you know that these Canelo fans KNOW CANELO IS WRONG this time and is being a diva. These same Mexican fans usually talk about how much they can't stand these diva tactics, but it's pretty obvious they are just being hypocrites this time.

Would be great for the sport if these hardcore Mexican Canelo fans call him out and stay true to their usual beliefs.

Golovkin offered to drain himself to fight the greatest fighter of his generation for a once in a lifetime payday , therefore he should do the same for the champion he's the mandatory challenger for ...
bellow 160 is basically uncharted territory for him , he actually weighed more than that as far back as the asian games in 2002 .
meanwhile Canelo looks like a light heavy at fight night and should make 160 without a hitch .

if you're a boxing fan , you know the fight should be at 160 . who gives a **** about what Golovkin said about mayweather or ward ? i want to see the best possible fight .
