I think both guys were fighting to win the chance to be in a PR nightmare as being the guy who's going to avoid fighting GGG. That was why neither guy was gonna get much credit here. If the perception was that this fight was a semifinal to fight GGG in the finals I think the winner gets patted on the back more or if the fight was the epic battle it was hyped as I think the winner gets patted on the back more, but all this seems more like some blue balls **** than an ******.

Canelo isn't getting the credit he deserves.

If Canelo had Marg's mindset, he would have stopped Cotto. He gave him way too much respect IMO and made it a boxing match at mid range.

For beating Cotto, I don't think Canelo isn't getting the credit he deserves. I mean, it isn't his fault the scorecards were wild and after-all, he won the fight.
He beat a solid, and improved Cotto, coming off some nice wins. Canelo displayed some great skills, nice countering and fairly decent defense against a top opponent. He is a young kid who had a lot of pressure on his shoulders from not only his country, but the entire boxing world. He fought a good fight and truely learned from his loss to Floyd. I think we should appreciate this kids talent and praise his recent performances, before slaughtering him about a potential match-up with Golovkin.
Although I think Canelo wants all the advantages he can have, I like the kid. Lets give him props for this fight.
Props to Canelo? Then: props to Canelo!
... Then what's next?

Canelo was just the better man.

The fight was not close. Close is 7 rounds to 5 or there about. Canelo won 9 or more rounds. If you think he deserves more credit you can start by not saying his fight with Cotto was close because it was not a close fight. Canelo won the fight by a wide margin. If you think the fight was close you are not likely to change your mind and you have a right to score the fight anyway you want but most observers thought Canelo won by a clear, comfortable margin.

"Cotto is old, done, undersized" etc....
IMO the speed difference was apparent. He was quicker, faster reflexes and really moved his head well. His defense is much better than people really want to admit.
The hate for Canelo is strange, I don't get it. I run into a ton of people that really HATE the guy...lol Maybe because I live in South Florida and there's tons of Mexican haters out here.
Now the same people rooting against Canelo, are newly found GGG fans.Originally posted by LeonSpinxMwfpce View PostNo. The only people saying that now, are the guys who predicted Cotto to win big. "Cotto is too fast, too smart, and with Freddie, hes a new fighter! Doesn't matter how big Canelo is, Cotto has more experience and is the better boxer".
Now, as usual, its excuses. As it is, Canelo didn't even impose his size. He simply outboxed him. Not once did Canelo even try to trap him in the corners or on the ropes, which is what guys with a size advantage try to do.

Not all, but many of the hard core Cotto fans really insulted Canelo in the months before this fight. They said Cotto would easily outclass him and knock him out. I don't think they will trash him anymore because if he is no good where does that leave Cotto?

Kellerman kept mentioning size and size did not play a factor "one puncher can absorb the others punches" Cotto landed like 3 clean clean shots the whole fight lol
Roy was the only one that was saying how crisp Canelo looked and he was 100% right. I said it from round 2 on, how much faster Canelo looked and how he was even dropping his hands and just slipping double, triple and quadruple jabs from Cotto.

Lampley cries every time one his man crush fighters gets beaten or is going to retire. They need to replace those two dudes ASAP.
Canelo was slipping punches with ease, made Cotto look like an amateur in there
