Fighter of the year award should absolutely take into consideration how well the fighter performed and entertained the only reason I'd give a pass to Floyd with getting FOTY is If he topped the Pac fight with another semi decent win against someone like Brook or a Khan regardless of performance because that is quality wins you can't expect to get FOTY with just one good win when the fight absolutely stunk the joint out this is exactly why neither Fury or Floyd deserves it.

Canelo, GGG, Roman Gonzalez, Bradley and Povetkin would all be good candidates with quality of names and good quality on display, I can't remember this 2015 a fight that any of those guys put on that I disliked or was bored with.
I agree performance is super important.

But the award use to be for fighters who had the most impressive resume that year.

And you can't even do that anymore because no one takes tough fights consecutively anymore.

would this even be a question if Manny beat Mayweather in May and fought a Berto level guy or even an Algieri level guy?

Floyd Mayweather won the biggest most profitable fight in boxing history this year....is this even a legitimate question

Mayweather is 2015 fighter of the year...2 fights....one cleared up who was the best welterweight of his generation, best fighter of his era and p4p the best in the world

ROFL.....GGG got votes on here....for what? beating Lemieux who was decent but only had one title fight under his belt, unranked Willie Monroe, and Martin " never won a big fight" Murray,

Floyd or Fury, with Canelo or GGG as the 3rd choice.

It's hard to overlook the only men to beat top 5 p4p fighters.

Floyd, GGG, Canelo and all these guys were expected to win.

Fury was at least a 5-1 outsider, and dethroned a man who most considered to be top 3 p4p.

I was thinking Floyd, Fury or Chocolatito...Canelo has had a good year winning the lineal middleweight title and WBC, as well as that spectacular Kirkland ko

GGG hasn't fought level of opposition, doesn't warrant consideration....Lemieux has 1 win over a top ten opponent, Monroe has none, and Martin Murray has lost every big fight in his career

and that hadn't lost in almost 12 years.

I think Fury winning almost sealed FOTY for him.

Its should have been inoue or Kovalev last year

He's sports person of the year, let alone fighter of the year.

I would go Fury then Floyd, then Canelo, then maybe GGG.

Floyd has name recognition and the Manny fight was HUGE and Manny was seen by many as the 2nd best in the world, so such a convincing win is usually rewarded.

But for me, wlad hadn't lost in almost 12 years. even though I think wlad is not that great Fury beating him was tremendous. I'd vote Fury.

                      .
You don't reward fighters for being in boring fights, that **** needs to end. And as the ratings keep dropping, and as fighters keep getting overpaid, it will end.

Boxing is just very slow to change, but boring fighters/fights, is killing this sport more than anything else.
