Despite being past his prime, inactive and not having a proper trainer, he was simply that good. He has obviously faded and the weight jumping will do him no favours, but even if he can get to 85% of what he was, I think he'll beat anyone from 126-130.
I think Gamboa and Loma are about the same level Gamboa has more pop but Loma is in his prime right now and Gamboa is probly on the downhill already this is a true 50-50 fight with a slide edge to Loma because of the things I mentioned above f but first I'd like Loma and Gamboa to have at least one fight at 130 on same card and then have them fight in the summer.

I'll be surprised if it happens. If that fight happens within the next 3-4 mos or in the next 5-7 mos & he's given a warm up fight I'd pick Gamboa to give Loma a nice fight if not beat him assuming he's in as good a shape as he was vs Crawford (except lighter) which might be a huge assumption with all the not fighting Gamboa has done in recent years.

That said I think Arum passes for now. Maybe give Loma a few more fights & re-visit Loma vs Gamboa towards the end of next year. Maybe try to setup a fight with a smaller guy right now if they wanna get him a bigger fight til then. The more fights they get Loma the better I like his chances vs most of these guys they are talking about so I'd suspect Arum REALLY feels that way cuz he gots money in this play.

I'd agree about both having a fight first.

I'd like to see Loma at 130 first and I'd like to see Gamboa back in the ring to gauge where he's at. I expect he'll be rusty and have stamina issues due to his poor training team.

So Gamboa hasn't been fighting for a year and people are talking about how he would crush Lomachenko. I thought boxers who have been on long layoffs should have tuneup fights first. On one hand people make it as an excuse, and on this case it's not an issue. What am I missing?

I said in the other thread related to this subject, that I would take Loma all day. Whatever skills Gamboa had as an amateur he's pissed them away as a pro. He still seems to hand speed and power, but he's so defensively irresponsible and that's why he gets clipped or dropped by lesser opponents in almost all his fights. Lomachenko wins by UD.

Gamboa without a size weight disadvantage just beat anybody. People forget he out class Crawford for 4 round until basically Crawford out muscle him, even when Crawford was hurt he was able to impose his size advange and hold until he got his sense back. But anybody 126 130 loses to Gamboa.

And for the record Gamboa fight was stop by refs, Gamboa always gets back up after a knockdown.

Might as well do it since Loma's opponent have been dreadful

Make it happen. Fight of the year candidate for sure.
I love this fight, but it needs a good co-feature to sell out.
