154 isn'r a catch weight, Golovkin was willing to go down a weight division to fight Floyd. If he's fighting a middleweight unification fight, it's at the middleweight limit. What's so hard to understand? All this catchweight bollocks is pathetic.

Catchweights for titles I find a joke. And provided Cotto gets by Canelo, and the WBC holds firm with their sanction of Cotto having to fight Golovkin at 160

Golovkin doesn't budge on CW, and Cotto is forced to vacate his MW belt

what would the general reception be?

1. Would Cotto be defended by backers?

2. Or Cotto be seen as a coward, who walked away, because he couldn't get his way?

Side note, if you NEED to use catchweights (159 vs Martinez, 157 vs Geale and 155 vs Canelo) in a division where you're allowed to weigh up to 160lbs that speaks volumes

If GGG refuses to concede a couple of lbs and that forces Cotto to vacate his WBC belt ... the situation should seen for what it is.

Cotto can make whatever decision he wants to. If he insists on a catchweight and GGG refuses, Cotto will be stripped. It is not rocket science here, it's very simple. No conditions can be imposed on a MANDATORY TITLE DEFENSE.

Cotto can come in at whatever weight he wishes to. He can weigh 150 if he wants. But he cannot prevent Golovkin from coming in at the division limit of 160.

Golovkin doesn't care about the payday, he wants the belt. In the past they offered to fight Cotto for next to nothing and Cotto never even replied to their offer. Money is not the problem here. All these talks about "payday" are a bit obsolete... Golovkin ALREADY can generate cash on his own. He does not need Cotto for money. If Cotto vacates, Golovkin will be just fine finacially. He will hold 3 belts, then he'll go after Andy Lee - and I bet he will be paid handsomely in the process. I think this is a matter of pride as well now. Once Cotto fans started throwing around tidbits about "bend over" and "he will be ****d at the negotiations", they created a negative atmosphere, which will prevent this fight from being made, unless Cotto mans up and fights at the division limit. Make no mistake, fighters and their managers read these message boards.

If Cotto walks away, then the last memory of him would be as about a coward, who picked a belt from a cripple and run with a tail between his legs from the real middleweight. But if he will fight at 160 and will not talk smack, GGG may go easy on him, kind of like Murray fight, when loser leaves on his feet after a fight and is not damaged severely.

Regarding Hopkins-DLH, I consider this fight as shady, the KO was suspect and the confirmation of that is they are best buddies and business partners now.

Any way GGG most likely got paid about 2 mill for his last fight on PPV no less. With PPV, close to 3-4 mill if he's lucky. Cotto is set to make about 30 mill plus, Canelo will make 10 mill plus. GGG's biggest payday is Cotto/Canelo and it is ******ity to even dispute that. And the reality is everyone knows Cotto is shrewd in negotiations, with all the grand standing GGG and his team continue to do, Cotto will make them pay at the table, in the pocketbook. Add too the fact that Loeffler pretty much said they would agree to all Cotto's terms, well my friend you have your self a ****. And lets be clear, dont confuse what im saying with "hope" that this happens, I could care less who gets what, when and where, I just want to see this damn fight. Please put me on your ignore list you ignorant ****. Both Golovkin and Loeffler have stated publicly that GGG will not accept a catchweight to fight someone in his own division. He considers it to be a matter of respect. He was asked the question directly and you can find it on YouTube. Not only that, we have fans of these 'catchweight champions' proudly bragging that their heroes are able to bully other fighters into giving them an unfair advantage. This is no different in my book than paying off an opponent to allow you to juice up on whatever PEDs you want before the fight while he has to remain clean. It is just as bad for the sport and just as much a way of cheating.

It is a disgrace and I do not consider any title won in such a contest to be a valid championship.
