Only in your world it is easier to lose 18-20 pounds than 15 pounds. And we have seen that Alvarez does not take weight loss well in Mayweather fight.
There is no advantage for Canelo fighting @ catchweight with GGG period.
In my opinion it would be better for him fighting with the full strength on his hands.
* officially move to middleweight
* remain there
Otherwise, no..... it would not benefit Canelo to fight Golovkin at 160 with no previous experience or preparation at middleweight, and then have to drop back down to JMW.
Imho it is highly unlikely that Canelo will fight Golovkin immediately after the Cotto fight unless Golovkin agrees to a catchweight, regardless as to what the WBC have to say.
He wont care, he has fought at Canelo-weight for the last 5 years, both at 150, and at 155..... and his handlers are extremely conscious/picky about his weight..... I am sure that Golovkin would have to agree to a catchweight if he wants that fight.
Catchweights suck.

In any case, if he wants to fight Golovkin, he will have to wait for Golovkin to take care of much more lucrative and pressing business first. If Ward wants to sit on his ass for another year and a half, that will be up to him.

Still haven't figured out why you keep quoting/supporting/acknowledging rankings that are obviously incorrect ?
Them being wrong, makes them wrong..... but you supporting them, makes you ******.

Maybe fight for a vacant title if it's worth it but it would be lame because even if they unify the WBC belt, Cotto would still remain lineal champion. It would be really awkward to say they least! We could potentially have a scenario where Golovkin has all the belts but technically Cotto would still be "the man" at 160. I'm hoping that doesn't happen.
Not for me

FUN FACT:
It takes 36 minutes to win a 12 round title fight.
It takes 36 minutes to duck Andre Ward.
Guess how Team Golovkin would rather spend their 36 minutes ?

But hey let us know when he steps up in class. Ward's os already proven cant say the same for GGG but hey I guess thats how it works these days just get hype beating cans with out stepping up. All good I have seen this story before I know how it ends.

Remember Ward's best win Froch? GGG tried to fight him without 168 tuneups, in the UK. That's a pretty big step up, Ward needs 3 tuneups to go up 3lbs. It's like him saying, I want Kovalev in Russia NEXT.
