The PPV split for Cotto-Canelo was negotiated LONG before Ward came into the conversation. So who's going to give up part of their ppv share? Canelo?? Golden Boy? Cotto? LMAO. None of those en****** would give up 50 cents to add Ward to the show, since he wouldnt add 25 buys to the event. The cost of the Ward fight would have to come solely out of Roc Nations pocket......
That's up to the parties to work out (if I had to guess, Roc Nation would likely cover Ward's share out of their take on the PPV).
Offering a piece of the PPV proceeds simply give Roc Nation an alternative means to finance getting Andre Ward onto the card. Floyd Mayweather Jr went into his pocket to front nearly $3m to have Garcia-Matthysse on his undercard. Rather than do the same for their show, Roc Nation seems willing to give up some of the back end money to get Ward on the undercard.
Hate on Ward all you want, if he finally gets confirmed for the PPV, Andre Ward will likely be the fighter fulfilling the vast majority of the English language media obligations (Sportsnation since it's out of LA, radio push across the country, a likely return to The View with Rosie Perez, assorted other press), with neither Canelo or Cotto being all that good at or engaging in English, tbh.
For a person who's supposed to be a promoter, you miss a lot.
The guy never stops making up bull****. He's one of those guys that was writing 1000 words essays on how 40m flat was a fair and reasonable offer for Pac vs Floyd
It's now very likely that Manny Pacquiao, even after the fight ended up generating $600m in total revenues, has yet to see $50m in his purse. The way that Pacquiao's business is structured (largely how he's basically spent his entire purse before stepping into the ring, thanks to all of those fight advances and his 300-person strong caravan that he travelled with), a flat fee gave him a better chance to actually put some money into the bank.
$40m to Pacquiao, and after Arum/Koncz/Freddie/BIR/camp expenses, Pacquiao clears $5m on the fight after paying everyone. [$40m to Pacquiao, $50m to Floyd basically gives Pacquiao a 45/55 split on the offer; $90m to the two fighters, $110m in net proceeds (once you add back the payout to the promoters/HBO) , before counting back again, and you're looking at a projection of $220m in PPV revenue, nearly double what the PPV record was at the time of the offer in 2012.
To now, in hindsight, try and act as if $400m in PPV revenue was somehow expected is laughable.
Pacquiao got his endorsement checks, for the brands on his shorts, and a $25m check, as his guarantee for the fight; every other penny from the fight will go to Top Rank first (where Arum will deduct the tickets comped to Pacquiao's friends, the hotel rooms for everyone who arrived with Pacquiao, and every other expense that Arum covered for Pacquiao), before possibly paying out Pacquiao any residual checks if there's anything left.

Omg this guy is still trying to justify the 40m flat using his "calculations" lololol. Can you be more of a joke? You should meet this guy from New Zealand lol
See in RocNation's "deal" they said each fighter would get 1 more fight.
That's another tune up for Ward and GGG vs the winner of Canelo Cotto.
GGG's profile will be higher coming off a win on PPV vs the Cotto Canelo winnner. GGG will be worth more money then.
That's why RocNation are trying to go ahead and lock up the 50/50 split now, before GGG's value is higher and he will command a bigger share.
This is what I've been saying the whole time.
You can't blame RN for trying to do it that way and you also have to understand that K2 didn't fall off a turnip truck and start promoting fights yesterday lol.
No promotional company would be able to keep their top fighters signing a deal like that.
This is a decent analysis.
Seriously though, they wanted the Ward fight before Cotto/Canelo.
Over the last few weeks, a lot has been said and a lot has been written with respect to a potential fight between WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs) and WBA super middleweight king Andre Ward (28-0, 15KOs).
As the finishing touches were being made to Golovkin's October 17th unification with IBF champion David Lemieux - Ward's promoter, Roc Nation Sports Chief Operating Officer David Itskowitch, emailed an official offer to Golovkin's promoter, Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions.

Oh Lordie, how did I miss this ?
Before I start laughing at some Golovtards, the best news to come from that article is that Ward has officially moved on.
It was obvious that Team Golovkin wanted nothing to do with Ward.
Canelo would lose a lot of respect if he dropped that belt to avoid GGG. Will he, I don't know but he seems better than that.
There's nobody at MW or above than can sell 250k by himself on HBO ppv. Canelo and Cotto barely did more recently. You put two guys like that together and you have serious ppv sales.
If Canelo dropped the belt to fight Cotto again, he wouldn't lose one iota of respect from anyone who matters to him; that "Mexican style" ruse hasn't transferred anywhere beyond Southern California.
Beyond that, Canelo's not a MW; he's likely to go back to 154/155 (depending on what world titles are free), take whatever fights, and continue to grow on the 400k+ PPV audience that he already has.
