Hype job? He was one of the better fighters of the last 5 years. It's a shame he has no belts to show for it but his resume is solid.

I think he's had an absolutely terrific career and you'll be lucky to see a fighter with that kind of resume appear any time soon. Fighters nowadays want safe fights to build up pretty looking records. They won't test themselves like Matthysse did.

no he didn't. he won some and he lost some. the reason he didn't have a belt is luck and circumstances. he destroyed peterson(better win than any broner win) who had a belt but haymon didn't want them fighting for a belt so he made it a non title fight. he won and he lost same as broner cept lucas fought the better competition yet you hate on him for taking risks and praise broner because he cherry picked his way to 4 belts. only one of those belts was legit over dimarco and dimarco wasn't very good and had no staying power at the top. 2 of them were vacant belts against unranked guys and the third was against paulie who was coming off a robbery win over cano.

He was hyped up too much but not a complete hype job. I've always said you can say he was robbed against someone like Judah but the fact is it was still close enough to where they could take it away from him. If he was as good as people thought then it wouldn't have come to letting fighters like a basically shot Judah run you close.

But i won't say he was a total hypejob. He was still a pretty good fighter and i think he has had a lot of tough fights and something has to give eventually.

I actually don't think him or Garcia have been the same since their fight. I think they both took something out of each other that night.

So Demarco>Peterson? Demarco the guy not even ranked #1 Marquez and Rios who both were ranked higher and left the division and #1 and #2 spots ended up vacant and Abril and Vazquez who were better. I remember one poster on here who pick Lucas to KO TBE, before the Garcia fight. Not that it couldn't have happened but was the sort of hype surrounding him at one time. He is like Zab Judah in a way because after another one of two wins the hype would start again with him. I actually like Lucas and he has some big wins but he isn't the great fight some wants us to believe he is, power is not everything.
