Comments Thread For: Javier Fortuna Drops, Bloodies, Stops Carlos Velasquez

Palms Casino and Resort, Pearl Theater, Las Vegas, Nevada - Javier Fortuna (29-0-1, 21KOs) systematically broke down and stopped Carlos Ivan Velasquez (19-2, 12KOs) in the tenth round to retain the WBA 'regular' super featherweight championship.

Velasquez, the much taller and longer fighter, was using distance well in the first. Fortuna would rush him and look for something big on the inside.

Funny that Fortuna seems to never have Uchiyama on his mind.

Uchiyama is a Japan born fighter who has had every single one of his fights in Japan.

Fortuna is a Dominican born fighter who has fought in the US, Dominican Rep, Mexico, and other countries.

I think Uchiyama and his handlers should start having an airplane in their minds.

Fortuna-Salido would be a full-on mess, but I'd love to watch it.

Fortuna isn't a draw here in the states either , I watch the sports news from 3 different dominican channels and they don't even know fortuna exists , making too much bout this fight carlos velazquez is rated number 30 pound for pound in puerto rico and fortuna is number 1 in Dr , he would lose. To uchiyama and pedraza , don't get it twisted uchiyama makes way more money than fortuna fighting in japan.fortuna has to proof himself and his worthless title.
