Comments Thread For: Diego Chaves: Brook Has Problems Going Backwards

Diego Chaves has warned Kell Brook that being the underdog will bring out the best in him.

The Argentine will challenge Britain's IBF world welterweight champion in Sheffield on October 24, live on Sky.

Chaves (23-2-1-KO19) will head to Britain on the back of drawing with Timothy Bradley and losing to Brandon Rios in 2014 but believes fighting one of the world's best 147lb fighters in his own backyard will suit him.

IDK if I buy that as a complete strategy but I see Chaves as someone who can try the Carson Jones approach of walking Brook down behind a high guard. It's not easy though...because it's has to be a certain kind of pressure...we saw that Brook is a very sturdy WW and Porter could not move him an inch - he just ended up smothering himself. Chaves doesn't really fall all the way in like that, he keeps punching space and throws compact shots...he wanted no part of Rios inside but Brook really isn't active like that in the trenches. he should feel more comfortable than Brook there imo but those chances won't come all night. Probably hits hard enough to do something ,so it's not that bad of a fight even though I'm still mad at how Chaves bailed out of the Rios bout.

Wasn't Chaves winning that fight?...also while I thought he lost he gave Bradley lots of problems and all he could handle and was going in on Thurman until he adjusted. This might be Brooks best test to date as Chaves is so awkward.

Lets see if Chaves can solve the KellVinci code.

My guess is he'll get a biblical beating from Ezekiel.

If Chaves chin holds and he doesn't get dis-incouraged he can make this interesting

Bradley proved that doesn't come easy.
