Someone could post a photo of Mayweather spitting on the ground and it would get more than 235 comments.

It's funny because this thread was started 2.5 months ago and it's been pinned for at least 1.5 months. I don't doubt that by the end of the fight it will be at a respectable amount of pages, but it's funny that a thread about Andre Ward gets to 100 pages in 24 hours and this thread is still lingering at 24 pages after almost 3 months.

I will not be watching this fight. Cubs NLCS Game 1. But I will watch the replay for free on HBO the next Saturday. Golovkin should erase him before 6 rounds are complete.

LOL, these guys are ragging on page count? They've finally run out of **** to **** on.
Can't wait for them to grasp at straws after the fight

LOL, the only time that happens for Ward is when they're ****ting on him for 30 pages or when GGG is involved

So being one of the most talked about fighters in Boxingscene, a boxing site equals plenty of buzz?

Yet I come on here every day without fail and I didn't even know it was this weekend.

But ok if you insist there's loads of buzz

I watched Lemieux vs N'Dam last night. DL likes to come in with his hands low. I see GGG taking timing him coming in.

I saw Lemieux a little nervous at press conference. I hope for him he will be able to express himself at 100% during the fight and not get frozen.
Anyway I think Golovkin is too smart for him and will control the fight.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lemieux wins by KO. I'm not confident in GGG's defense.

Worst and an early evening for Golovkin, He'll sleep earlier than usual. Lemieux will do him before the 7th round!!

since when is discussion [buzz]on a boxingsite not a metric for buzz about a boxing match? ?

boxing is not a mainstream sport. you can count your mainstream / crossover stars in american boxing with 3-4 fingers. now that mayweather has retired, it is pacquiao, cotto, and alvarez. if you're holding him to the standard of miguel cotto, manny pacquiao, floyd mayweather, canelo alvarez, he is not generating that kind of buzz. that's not a standard for whether or not he's generating any buzz at all, but a standard by which he's compared to genuine crossover stars with ethnic / racial backings.

golovkin is regularly on ESPN, the biggest sporting network in the country. max kellerman is a host for one of their shows, and he and golovkin have a relationship through HBO. HBO doesn't own ESPN, however. ESPN is actually owned by disney. ESPN talking heads know who golokin is. they don't pronouce his name correctly, they call him "triple G," but they mention him when he's coming up on a fight on HBO.

he's recently been featured in a watch commercial on national television. i can't remember seeing cotto on any national TV commercials. i'm not saying he wasn't on one, i just don't remember it. i've seen alvarez a few times on underarmor commercials. pacquiao had a pistachio endorsement, and nike. floyd mayweather had a TV cable provider, but he eventually got himself into too much trouble to be a spokesperson for most major corporations. same happened with tyson, who used to plug pepsi and nintendo.

in short, there's a point in american boxing where guys start to cross over into the mainstream, which is a population that doesn't seek out boxing, but consumes boxing when it is brought to them. these are called casual fans. golovkin is absolutely being pushed and affecting these casual markets.

he's not floyd mayweather, or manny pacuqiao, but there's certainl buzz. and yes, we can look at the fighter who arguably generates the most discussion on a boxing site and say that he's generating buzz.

just face it, dan, you've got some kind of agenda that causes you to diminish what golovkin is doing and the noise [buzz] he is making in boxing. there's no other way you can claim to be coming to this site every day, looking where you should to keep up with things, and not seeing that golovkin and lemieux are scheduled to fight this weekend.

name me ten fighters who generate more buzz in boxing than gennady golovkin.

you're all missing the plot on how this figh tis going to turn out.

lemieux is accurate and has power. golvokin has been working to disrupt his offense and keep him from getting set by using the jab.

golovkin has long arms for a guy who throws his best shots at the middle distance and usually in the form of hooks and uppercuts. his jab is one of hte best in boxing.

lemieux is going to have to either land something big to take the jab away, or he's going to get thrown off from what he's trying to do quickly, and get stopped.

5-8 rounds. expect golovkin to be more measured than he's been in the past, and work almost exclusively on keeping lemieux' back on the ropes with an active jab.

also, expect golovkin to take lemieux' gas late in the fight. he slows down.

golovkin might get hit with something big early before he adjusts to the handspeed and explosiveness, and have to weather a storm, but i don't expect him to get troubled to the point that he gets broken down and stopped.
