Come on, Gamboa was beating Crawford for three rounds then Crawford adjusted. He didn't impose his size on Gamboa, he wasn't physical, he was boxing. He was using his right jab to keep Gamboa at a distance and making him lunge to get his shots, and when Gamboa lunged, Crawford countered. Just look at the first kockdown, it was a perfect counterpunch while Gamboa lunged to throw a right hand.

    And the rest is history.

Gamboa might be an impressive physical talent, but Crawford outboxed and outsmarted him.
I couldn't have put it better myself! This is exactly what happened. Crawford made the adjustment (boxing) and caught Gamboa trying to pot shot. Get over it Gamboa fans, Crawford outboxed, outgunned and outclassed him!

He didn't outbox, or outclass Gamboa, he caught a fighter with a great shot. Gamboa was coming off a year + layoff and up to the point of getting hurt was outboxing, outclassing Crawford and won damn near every round till his mistakes were exposed. Crawford looked far from great or even looking of a higher class. Gamboa never belonged at lightweight and it was obvious quite quickly with the large size advantage of Crawford.

Only modern fans with little to no knowledge of real boxers from the past would make a ridiculous comment like this about weight advantages being the excuse for their favorite boxers losing. You probably aren't aware but throughout the history of boxing, great fighters who have cleaned out one division would often move up in weight to further enhance their legacy and take on tougher competition and actually win. This is what you do when you're looking to be challenged and take on all challengers. This is not, however, the typical mindset of boxers today who are more often than not, trying to avoid risk any way possible. That's why there are so few 50/50 fights anymore because boxing is much more of a business than a competitive sport and too many mindless sheep who call themselves boxing fans are happy to accept this situation.
You my friend obviously don't know much about the history of boxing. Up to the point of adding weight lasses every 4-6lbs boxers rarely moved up in weight. In the history of boxing up to the 70's only 12 boxers had held a title in more than 3 weight classes and now it's run rampant with individuals moving up not cleaning out a division.

what boxers before the 80's held title in more than two weightclasses.

        Armstrong
        Leonard
        Hearns
        Duran
        Tunney
        Fitzsimmons
        Benitez
        Arguello

Rarely? Throughout the first half of the 20th century, Light Heavy, Super Middle and even Middleweights would often challenge for the world Heavyweight title. Sure, they didn't all win but such a weight disparity is not that big of a deal in the annals of boxing history. I can't see how this is debatable since some of these fights were filmed.
I'm amazed at the lengths people will go to defend boxers nowadays, regardless of their performance in the ring. You act like Gamboa went up against a monster who dwarfed him so immensely that there was no way for him to win with such a handicap. Last I checked, Gamboa was campaigning at lightweight and Crawford at super lightweight. Wow, what a disparity! People are complaining because Golovkin is not interested in moving up to super middleweight to fight Ward when he campaigns at Middleweight and Ward has most recently campaigned at closer to Light Heavyweight!
If you did have a firm grasp on the history of professional boxing, you should know that conditions and terms for fighters, especially black ones in the past, were way poorer than they were for Gamboa or most other pro boxers nowadays. If Gamboa didn't think he could win the fight, he shouldn't have agreed to it, plain and simple.
If it was his promoters fault, he was naive to think an amateur boxing promoter, with no previous association with boxing and no boxing experience would be able to successfully steer his career in the right direction. I don't care how tough 50 Cent is, how many bullets he took, or how much of a boxing fan he is, he obviously knows little about being a successful boxer promoter and underestimated the controlling en****** in boxing who aren't in the least bit interested in given any new blood a piece of the pie.
