Let's put this to bed
GGG is the it man of the moment to speak of because HBO AND K1 promotions has done a great job building up GGG. GGG's handlers have masterfully steered the boxing public's attention away from a Ward-GGG bout. That is true craftsmanship. So here we are today as fans of the sweet science actually acknowledging entertaining GGG as a threat to the most masterful boxer of this generation because of GGG's "size". Not skills, not accolades, but his size. This is hard evidence that many Mayweather detractors crave to place Mayweather in the best situation possible to produce a defeat.
And if the rebuttal is "well, if Floyd is such a masterful boxer, why not beat GGG easily and silence everyone?!" That question sounds logical but it's terribly flawed in practice. Why? Mayweather fighting and defeating Pacquiao was the previous promise of silence by the public. Now that Floyd defeated Manny by a 10-2 avg, silence is still no where to be found. This proves, silence in boxing- at least regarding Mayweather's sake, is no where to be found and will never be granted. Even Roy Jones Jr. when he packed on some pounds and went up to heavyweight, he plucked the weakest champion of the division- John Ruiz who was slow, flat footed and predictable.
Because we all know that GGG is not in the same GALAXY as Floyd boxing skill and athleticism-wise, can we just admit and say "we want to see if Floyd can take GGG's punch!" We all know GGG can't outbox Floyd so what's this really all about? Can Floyd take GGG's punch- that's what this is all about. The answer is NO. And we also already knew that. Opponents who are GGG's size can't seem to take his punch so why would we think a guy who walks around at 150 pre-training can take GGG's punches? Where is the logic and/or common sense??? As boxing fans, we make ourselves look like asses.
Meanwhile, Its widely know that GGG has yet to accomplish what Floyd's accomplished. So how does GGG get the luxury of being spoken in the same breath as Floyd when GGG has yet to face a REAL CHALLENGE closer to his own natural weight- such as Andre Ward? Stop allowing the media hype train to travel us to crazy town before checking the final destination folks.
On a final note to the respected Hall of Famer Ray "Boom-Boom" Mancini. You're not entitled to speak on what Floyd should do at age 38. As stated by another knowledgable boxing fan here on krikya360.com, "Mancini retired at 31, Floyd beat Oscar and Hatton at age 30, and demolished Marquez at age 32! So if Mancini is a "hall of fame" fighter, then Floyd is something very special, and on a way higher level than simply "hall of fame."
Fighter of the Decade aka the People's Champ aka 8-Division aka The Modern Day Henry Armstrong, Manny Pacquiao, was defeated 10 rounds to 2 by the greatest boxer of his generation Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr.
Give Floyd the same respect you would have given Manny Pacquaio had he defeated Floyd by saying "He has nothing left to prove."
