Comments Thread For: Ratings Trend Suggests There Can Be 'Too Much Boxing'

Sorry fight fans, but there is such a thing as too much boxing—and we are in the midst of such a run.

While some boxing junkies marvel at fight shows appearing on a slew of networks on a regular basis, the recent ratings trend suggests the offense is being spread way too thin. Case in point, the less than spectacular numbers produced over the past couple of weekends. [Click Here To Read More]

Too many shows, on too many channels, at around the same time. People like to find it all in one place not go hunting for it.

I gave up reading before I was halfway down. I hope that wasn't as excruciating to write as it was to read - needed editing.

It's summer. TV ratings are always lower in the summer. The weather is better and people are out with their family. That's why new shows start near Autumn.

I said this in another thread, truTV needs to bring in other promoters than TR. They're paying TR $200k-$400k per show and all TR is doing is showing casing their prospects like they were before they imploded on Verses.

Rameriz/Edwards is a showcase fight. I'm just as intrigued to watch that as I am to watch GB's Mendez/Lopez MW fight. And if Shaw was able to use truTV, Tureano Johnson wouldn't be sitting on the bench 6months at a time. I'd also like to see Arif Magomedov of ME develop as he likes to get matched tough.

truTV should be used as minor league for HBO, not TR.

When the boxing cards on Showtime have fighters that I have never heard of, to include the main events, I agree there is to much boxing being shown.

I said this a while back. The sport is being too watered down with fights on to many different channels on different dates and at different times. It's hard to keep track of which fights are happening on which channel on what date and at what time. It's too unorganized.

You boys can wait and hope the sport fails so you can celebrate and enjoy whatever it is you are wishing for
