Its subscriotion based totally different model then network tv where you are paid by advertisers which PBC has little to none. Which is why they need higher ratings to lure them. NBC is not paying a dime PBC pays for the fighters and pays NBC for the time slot. Game of throne gets a fraction of the TV ratings as network tv shows yet because it's subscription based it generates way more money and is one of the biggest shows out right now. Of course if HBO got these ratings it would be a success but for network prime time and all the money PBC is losing these are terrible ratings.

Yeah because my entire post was to compare PBC to HBO and Showtime.

Boxing has always been about the star, not who's promoting it, the PBC brand doesn't mean anything to 99.9% of the world.

Boxing is, and always will be, about the stars. Haymon wants PBC to become synonymous with top notch boxing, but its just not going to happen.
It could happen if he had better match making and made the fight fans want to see everytime...

Even if he uses just Haymon fighters, if pbc is gonna succeed he needs to have
      Khan-garcia 2
      Thurman-Porter
      Etc
      Etc

No more showcase fights... Ufc didn't have a deep roster in late 90s early 2000s but they tried to make the best possible fights everytime, and never let stuff "marinade" like they do in boxing..

Bellator has built a following because they are always Friday night on spikeTV, and will not having the best fighters, they have really good entertaining fights and have built it from the ground up... PBC needs to do that

Boxing can never compete with major league sports for reasons already discussed dozens of time in dozens of threads. I suggest reading them.

I wholeheartedly agree with the XFL comparison. I made it myself when PBC first started.

The Kimbo-Shamrock fight was on FRIDAY NIGHT. Not Saturday. And you are really not trying to claim that a Pixar animated movie release is competition for the same market as boxing are you? 2.4 million was a small number and yet another decline from previous shows. This is not good for PBC.

Stick to riding GGG....ALT. Of course an anticipated movie release which takes people out of their houses (which is where they need to be to watch the event) infringes on said event. But like every one else pick and choose what you want to respond to from one post as if nothing else on the post matters.

Bellator and UFC have something PBC does not have and never will have... a stable of fighters who are contracted to fight under their brand and their brand only. A Bellator fighter cannot fight on UFC and vice versa.

First of all, I am not an ALT and if you wish I will be happy to put up a bet in real world dollars, you can choose the amount - not under $1000, and you can try to prove it. Feel free to get the board admins to check all their server logs and I will even gladly give an admin my full name and contact information for verification purposes. If you refuse to accept this bet then you can SHUT THE **** UP you piece of donkey turd.

Boxing basically has the same system, haymon fighters aren't fighting on top rank cards and vice versa

I don't think match ups are the problem. It's a lack of stars.

Haymon hasn't proved he can build homegrown stars.

At the end of the day, stars are what sell this sport.

True, but stars are born from great fights..... Without tough matchmaking you can't seperate the stars from the hype and all we are left with is a bunch of hype jobs that haven't fought any big fights,

I have never seen a star in boxing get made without big fights to propel them to stardom

Why does anyone who posts on this site give a damn what the ratings were? Those who are criticizing the numbers are saying that it didn't do as well as Thurman/Guerrero and Garcia/Peterson. Yet, you are the same knotheads who were critical of the numbers of Thurman/Guerrero and Garcia/Peterson when they came out.

None of you have money invested in PBC and none of you has any clue what the future holds for PBC or boxing in general. Yet, every time a PBC card airs on television, you act as if you are losing your investment money on it and the sport of boxing is being killed with every PBC broadcast.

You are just mad that Broner got better ratings than Khan.
