Geale is a real stand up guy & very humble but I still believe the catch did a job on him & if it wasn't for that he could have done a better fight.Catch weights suck!!

The fight was slipping round by round, two knock downs made it near on impossible to win, after slipping three then two kd's in the 4th he'd have needed every round for the win to recover from a 40-34 deficit, a draw would have been meaningless to him, as unlikely as a draw even could have appeared. He was taking damage, he's drawing towards the end of his career and it now appears he won't win another title again at world level.

He's had a fine career, relinquished belts to go for the bigger paying fights at home, not taken too much damage. His faculties are truly intact, he's young and has a young family. You act as though it is a great shame him quitting, I was disappointed but have come to take everything into account, especially the scores at the time of the stoppage as well as all the intangibles into account.

Get over it, ok he quit. He's banked massively in the last three years, enough for him to able to quit as he's never been one to lie to himself. Against GGG and Cotto he met two guys he needed 3-4 rounds to realise he could not win, to me that's intelligent. Why would he want to go the Froch, Providnikov, James Toney route taking excessive needless damage that will have a profound impact later down the line. He can return home, beat a regional titlist and headline another Aussie ppv vs Sam Soliman firmly establishing himself the finest middle of his generation back home, before comfortably moving into semi lucrative commentating.

I had hoped he could spoil the party and use this to grab another huge paying cash out fight, but even had he won he wouldn't make the riches Cotto would make vs Canelo as the fight wouldn't be the same magnitude it would have been no more bigger than Trout vs Canelo, hardly an exciting fight at the mention and thought. Geale can simply enjoy the riches and spoils of a great career, that simply failed on the biggest of world stages. Is he world class, I believe so, just not cut out for p4p elite level like Cotto, Canelo and GGG.

I look forward to seeing an healthy Geale having a swan song or two back home, against fringe and former titlists in financially rewarding fights. He is done at this level, move on.

Samething Martinez said he didn't expect cotto to hit that hard or be that fast ppl forget but there was a round against floyd were cotto just out boxed floyd in the middle of the ring and for you to do that you have to have speed and great foot work

Seriously, he quit twice on the biggest stage.

As an australian I am embarrassed by his performance.

Even Mundine got KDed 7 times against clottey, did he give up? No

I lost a lot of respect for geale today, he just turned up for an easy pay day, he should be ashamed.

Easy payday though??? He had to dehydrate the shyt out of himself, and then he was floored twice early while he probably didn't even feel close to himself due to the weight. He was never meant to win this fight and to put the icing on that cake they drained the hell out of him too so he probably said screw this I'm taking my money. I don't like the decision but can you really be surprised?

He would have got paid good today.
He's been knocked out 2x now, he's 34. He hasn't taken serious punishment but he's still been stopped twice and taken some big shots. Call it a day, solid career, plenty to be proud of.
I'd bet PBC will be knocking on his door soon enough

I know he was drained but I wish he would of shown some more heart.
