There is a reason we have divisions in boxing. If a fighter is not able to make the weight for a particular division, he should be fighting in another one. It does not take a genius to figure out. These bullshit games of draining a fighter down to gain an unfair advantage have to be stopped. Good luck with that. Cotto cannot impose a catchweight on a mandatory defense and if he insists on doing so, he will be stripped for not defending his title. By the time Canelo is allowed to face GGG, Golovkin will be holding all the MW titles and Canelo will have to sit up and beg to even be considered for a title fight with the Undisputed, unified middleweight champion of the world.

GGG won't be drained at 155. He is not a big middleweight and he said he can make 154 for Mayweather. A !55 weight limit wouldn't save Cotto. A 143 pound Pacquiao had no trouble knocking Cotto out. GGG would squash him like a bug. When Canelo gets through knocking Cotto out nobody will care much about Cotto anymore. The group that made a 50million three fight deal with Cotto will be feeling ****** unless they make all their money back on the Cotto-Canelo fight. This catchweight nonsense is getting out of hand. Historically, catchweights were occasionally used to facilitate 2 fighters from different divisions meeting in a big fight. One guy goes up a little, one guy comes down a little, and it was relatively fair to both sides. What this clown Cotto is doing is using financial leverage to force a challenger IN THE SAME DIVISION to come in 3lbs under the limit for no purpose other than to physically weaken the opponent. Its lame, and Cotto loses all respect for being such a b*tch.
