Comments Thread For: Khan Focused on Algieri, But Wants Broner at 147

British star Amir Khan (30-3, 19 KOs) is ready to accept a fight with former three division world champion Adrien Broner (30-1, 22 KOs), but his focus is firmly placed on his next return, on May 29th against Chris Algieri (20-1, 8 KOs) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The two fighters have been trading words for the last few weeks. Broner has continued to go after Khan on the social networks.

A member of Khan's team told the UK press that Broner was their first selection for the May date, but they claim Broner insisted on a catch-weight for the contest. Broner, a former welterweight champion, dropped down to 140-pounds after losing to Marcos Maidana in late 2013. Khan moved up to welterweight early last year and no intention of moving back down. The promoters missed a good eye-catching opportunity here. This fight obviously should've been held in...

          wait for it...

          way too easy...

          Algieria. :thumbs1:

If khan is fully fledged @147 why fight Algeri ?
Algeri had 1 outing @147 and got dropped 6 times !
Algeri also had 1 decent win at 140 against a guy that gets beat every time he steps up to the next level (Provo)
Khan is a pretender NOT contender

              That's ******. Why not 147? It's not like Broner's fatass makes 140 easily.

Both these 2 idiots spend all day on twitter and interviews talking about all these guys they want to fight and who they will whoop and then the next day they fight bums that are handpicked by Haymon that no fans want's to see. After months of Broner calling out Mattyhsee, Maidana on twitter who did he fight? Molina, and no fan was asking to see that bum coming off a losing streak in the ring with Broner. Same with Khan who keeps talking yet is fighting Chris Algeri. Raise your hand if you want to see that garbage fight? Broner is fighting next month yet his opponent is not yet named. Code word for it will be some bum we pick up off the streets. This ain't about weight it's about Haymon not wanting you two frauds to fight. So just keep your mouth shut and fight these bums Haymon is feeding you.

Khan fights at 147 and Broner knows this.

Broner made previous statements about "weight don't win fights, skill do" and has also, even after the Maidana fight, said he'd easily fight at 147 again.

Khan called his bluff for the 2nd year running and he backed down again.
